I have found digger and tractor tights on ebay!
Ds was in tights until he was about 3 then migrated on to some thermal leggings i found in the asda sale last year but not going to be paying the prices they want this year, ex OH used to throw a fit even when ds was a baby about tights and 'making him gay' blah blah blah luckily current OH couldn't give a toss and quite often moonlights as a cross dressing PJ bottom thief!!!!! :rotfl: seriously he would even nab my fluffy pink dressing gown if i leave it unattended.
Baby has some stripey tights already0 -
Further more to my tights rant.......where on earth can i find thick wooley tights in adult sizes? My dd has an array of spotty, stripey, patterned multi coloured tights.....yet move to the women's section its just plain old boring 15 denier or opaque black or nude. Im really quite jealous! I can get them in claire's accessories but at £7 or so a pair they can jog right on and the biggest size asda do in girls is just that tad bit to small around the gusset (penguin gusset).
Maybe its time I accept the fact that I need to grow up.0 -
skinny sam's do thick tights in various colours for a fiver a pair but I haven't seen any patterned adult knitted tights. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I get thick tights from BHS or M&S and have had wooly ones in various colours but not patterned. Last winter I squeezed into the largest girls size but I've gained a little weight since then and don't know if they'll still fit! I sometimes layer up my tights so will wear a high denier brightly coloured pair and then over the top wear black lace ones to get a nice colourful and warm effect!
I get paid in 16 days and it feels like an incredibly long wait! Me and DH are both pretty skint at the moment so trying to make the two weeks as cheap as possible. I will need to get some food but shouldn't need too much, I cancelled our veg box order for tomorrow as we have quite a bit of veg left from last week's box but we will get a box next week. I'll just have to work out tonight what we've got in and what I can make from it to get us through until pay day whilst buying as little as possible to top it up!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Hubbys throwing strop as we have nothing he fancies eating.
out of yogurts, fruit, crips and chocy biscuits.

Biggest problem we have is last 2months we brought food costs down by buying more frozen from farmfoods.
But neither of us like to eat frozen stuff every night.
I try to boy frozen and cook with it so cauli/brocoli bake, baked fish fillets , qourn curry or quorn chilli ect.
We out of meat and hubby only eat quorn when theres nothing else there!
I have tried to meal plan but normally means from 15th payday-end of month we eat like kings then last 2weeks we grumble as we have stuff there but nothing we really want to eat, anyone else get that problem?
Stocktaked the cupboards we really low on grocery and store cupboard essentials.
This is down to last 2months me not doing large sainsbury/morrisions shop, hubbys been doing bits when he shops for his mam but hes picking up things like crisps biscuits.

All these beef stew recipes are making my mouth water, which considering I don't eat meat is a bit of a shame. I must remember what veggie stew recipes I used to concoct.
I eat fish now so must experiment with fish curry or stew. Had a wonderful king prawn and scallop risotto from Asda on friday night (whoopsied of course).
My weekend plan to stay off the booze didn't go so well. I forgot that whenever I'm in the presence of my sister-in-law I get a bit "thirsty". She's lovely, but gets stressed very easily, and this stress radiates out until me and OH are nervous wrecks.Still, we managed 2 Halloween parties and I only drank at one of them, though probably my alcohol allowance for a month in one go.
Was an expensive weekend with parties and trainfare - easily spent £300. So now are back to basic rations of £50 per week till the 24th. Have quorn fillets and pies and fish in the freezer so hopefully it won't be too painful. Should be nice and healthy time considering we can't afford any more blowouts. :rotfl:

I completely agree re the simmer plate mentioned by primrose. I used one on a gas hob and it was one of the best things I ever bought. I brought porridge up to boil and then put the covered pan on the simmer plate over the lowest flame. I then used to go and have my shower. Nothing burns when using it. I gave mine away as we now have an induction hob and the simmer plate wouldn`t work on that
Am still fighting a bad throat but it has moved to right tonsil which is swollen with a couple of small spots on it, so I can survive now without ibuprofen. Day 2 of baby food and other liquids. It is me that will get rid of this via my immune system and moving etc must have stressed me as we moved ourselves due to an archway. Am sitting in a tiny room bathed in sunshine and will put on a tranquil cd later as I know getting better is down to my immune sytem0 -
Gailey - I have been saving on an Asda savings card - its full now which means that I know if nothing else I have enough for all food and household stuff over Christmas and New year. I found that adding a pound or two each time I shopped I didnt notice it going out, but I will really notice having the extra over Christmas. I managed it last year and it made such a difference I managed it again this year. I think if you manage it once you will find it easier next time IYSWIM. I appreciate the whole monthly divide issue, we used to suffer from that every month, some months money went in one day and was gone by next. All I can say is meal plan - if you alternate a "kings" meal with one that isnt so good you will hopefully spread the poorer meals over the month and make it seem less hard.
We dont celebrate halloween in any way so havent had that expense - but we will have a small bonfire celebration - fireworks, pan of chilli and rice, some HM pudding. We usually have my parents and the kids are allowed to invite a couple of friends, my dad usually buys the fireworks and we have some friends who bring their family and they usually bring sparklers, doesnt cost a huge amount but is a good evening that breaks the cold dark nights up a little.
I watched Kirstys HM house last time and was very disappointed - who can afford to go glass blowing to make glasses?? Some of the ideas were nice but all seemed quite high cost. Am sure there are plenty on the OS boards who could put Kirsty to shame.
My lot not in school till tomorrow - good job as car in with mechanic today so would be very difficult to get everyone there and back - costing a fortune but no real choice.0 -
Thanks kidcat will try that was our aim this year with nectar points but used them when we really needed food. Will try do sainsburys and keep them hidden. Also boots do savings card I think would be handy.I plan to do boots jan sales to get enough cheap toilitries to last least 6months and maybe mums day pressie.
Kittie -hope you better soon.
Jojo spunds like good time sometimes its nice to escape everyday routine and go out.
fab surprise realised paypal topupcard as 8.40 on it weird as sure it had nothing.

Quite nippy out this afternoon but sunny.
just finished washing up need to hoover tidy lounge up b4 mate comes round.
want to clean bathroom, get kids in pjs and baby in bed asleep before I go.
Dreading pta meeting tonight plus its later 8pm start so much for my early night be lucky to make it home by 9.30.
Got 2free pantomine tickets for school panto hoping hubby will take eldest as think hes off.
Got weird problem with dinner money cheque bouncing.
its from other month and its been returned.
Whats baffling me is other cheques gone through fine.
Have barclays reserve account and am within my reserve limit but slightly over od but they never refused cheques, I always write cheque card no, expiry and guarantee on back for 50 yet 8.40cheque refused and 8pound charge added for refusing it!
Im not technie but I assume its way council have processed it as cant see why banks the issue if other cheques gone through in past always pay from mine as hubbys bank have refused cheques in past but barclays never have.
Really not sure what to do about hubbys dinner as im likly to be out .
thinking qourn spag bol and garlic bread as can make before hand and bung in fridge.
Just remembered got to iron his clothes for job interveiw tommorow.
next 2hours will be me running round like mad person getting house ready, everyone fed.
Might try converting baby onto porridge have tried with 4half year old but she refuses.
was thinking defrosting and stewing some plums mix into icecube trays to add to porridge or icecreams.
Going to surprise hubby on thursday and get him a flask for soups and expensive coffee as save him using coffee machine in work.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Gailey - why are you ironing your husbands clothes for tomorrow? Can he not do that while you are out this evening?
As for savings cards - my other reason for saving was a real concern that OH would lose his job last year, and I saw the shopping cards as a way of saving money that would not be counted as savings if we had to claim benefits - as we have been saving a deposit for a house we have not a huge amount in savings but with any redundancy money it would tip us over the benefit allowance. For me it was also a way of guaranteeing that if he lost his job I would have money for food no matter what.
I also looked at is as a virtual store cupboard that didnt take up huge amounts of space - obviously with looking to move house again I am reluctant to build up too much stuff - as any house we buy will be alot smaller than we have now. But to protect my savings as soon as a card is full I give it to my dad who holds it for me - he would never not give it to me - but knowing I have to ask for it makes me think hard and stops me using it.0
