(((hugs))) to all who are having a rough time of it at the moment.

Well, i tried making a tealoaf the other day but silly me tryed making it in the halogen oven and it only cooked the top half and the bottom half was all still runny mixture, it was in there for over an hour and at the end of it it was half raw so i threw it away...which mortified me, oh the waste of electric and moreso, of the ingredients. Then yesterday i thought i would make some honeycomb....ballsed that up and had to throw that away too. I hate to waste food.

However, the weekend hasn't been a complete disaster....after months of crocheting a blanket using only one stitch, I have FINALLY taught myself to crochet a granny square....and today i even showed my Mum how to do it (she hasn't crocheted for over 30 years and couldn't remember how to do it and was frustrated about it). So I am well pleased. We ate lunch with Mum and Dad today after Mass and i pulled some veggies from the garden for my folks: cobnut squash, parsnips, a few cherry tomatoes and some new potatoes.

I've just been reading the last couple of pages and have to echo the majority of comments that express their enjoyment of this thread and the inspiration gleaned from reading about peoples experiences and personal stories. What a fab bunch we are!

I need to rant or cry or something.

Am having a really really bad day and now my DD has cat crap on her trainers from playing in our own garden (we don't have cats). I could cry :(
I don't have anything to cheer you up (but hopefully Chillout will post the sequel on the Preparing for Winter thread) ... sending you hugs though. Do they need to be cleaned right now? Might be easier to face when you're feeling a bit better?
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

    Thanks Nuala

Tempted to shove them in the bin tbh, they were only cheapies and are lifting at the toe... altho still plenty of wear in them. I just can't face cleaning cat poo. It stinks. What annoys me is that I don't even know where it was so I can't even go and pick it up and fling it over their fence (i know which cat did it)

I know i am prob overreacting but my S.A.D is kicking in and I don't cope well with even small stress in winter :(

DD (age4) just said to me "I had a nice day today Mummy" which cheered me up, they had a lovely time helping me in the garden and eating their HM muffins. I just need them to go to bed now so I can have some 'me' time

I know what you mean ... it's a horrible job. I have no pets either but there is a neighbour's cat that comes into my garden ... it always looks a bit guilty/up to no good but runs away when it sees me. Which is good cos I don't want to clean up its mess!!!!

I know what you mean about S.A.D. not sure if mine is seasonal but I have felt worse since summer has gone. I hope you can get a bit (or a lot!) of you-time ... and lots of wee treats to see you through the winter.

My treats for the evening involve crap telly, giant mugs of tea, choc and sock knitting ... haha, I really know how to live! :D

Edit; another treat ... I lit the open fire and it's so lovely and cosy, making me feel much better!

Is it just underneath the trainers or all over? It might be fox poo if it really stinks.

No its def cat poo - i have enough experience of the stuff to know as there are cats everywhere round here. Used to keep chickens so know how bad fox poo is - would have more patience with that as foxes are wild.

Its just underneath - I got her to walk over a load of horsechestnut shells earlier on our walk and that got some of it off, but have left them outside the front door now kinda hoping someone nicks them! Altho thats doubtful round here, altho you never know!

My treats are crap telly (and can watch in bed now too :D) and seeking out the best veg seeds for next spring, looking at all my gardening books, gardeners world on fridays, wine, and not much else atm... (oh and chillouts stories of pipe bombs on Prep for winter thread!) Must think of the things that used to keep me happy and occupied, apart from you guys of course, you keep me sane atm!
