You can use the canner as a water bath it is not necessary to use pressure and it might pulverize the contents anyway.
I bought a canner last year and I love it.

    Hi peeps, welcome rosemary!!!!

Annie56 report the gets, they shouldn't be sending messages to you. Its abuse!!!

Guess what we had this morning a sprinkling of snow.
It was only very light and disappered very quickly.

Haven't done much today apart from look for a new coat for coddy (DS1). Guess what he now fit into a small mans coat and he's only 5"2 , and 10 years old!

So as soon as i get paid need to do some major shopping for him. Dreading the thought of it, to be honest.

I sent a request to cleveland LETS group, so hopefully its still up and running.
Also got snips (ds2) the free lego today, i felt guilty buying the daily mirror but needs must. Going to try and get the rest of them as they'll be great for xmas.

Been very low spend this weekend , just been mooching about charity shops and stuff on without buying it. Strangely the kids loved, as apparently the shops were warmer than out house :p

Snips bust his lip open on Friday so have to keep an eye on it in case he needs stitches, so that messed me right up as i was planning on pay centres and slides. Got no chance now, just hoping it doesn't become infected.

If you take him into a walk in centre or minor injuries clinic they will glue it, DS6 managed to headbutt the bath a couple of years ago and his teeth went straight through his lip and the skin beneath, looked like he had a piercing!! Doctor was brilliant and glued it back together, said it almost guaranteed no infection and minimal scarring. DS has no discernible mark now at all, and was very fond of telling everyone that the doctor had glued him back together - we no longer keep superglue in the house though cos he had the idea that he could do the glueing himself!!!:)

Can someone enlighten me on the free lego please? My DDs love lego :)
  • Annie56,
In the last few weeks your posts have been truly inspiring. I always look forward to reading the latest instalment of your activities. Life has certainly chucked lemons at you recently but you've really made lemonade!! Please don't let this underhand person put you off postiing. Report it as the others say you should. Best wishes for your new relationship with Monty.

When going through our monthly farmers market this weekend to buy our eggs I noticed a stall selling cupcakes at ridiculous prices. I've also just bought a set of silicone cupcake moulds at our local ALDI and thought I'd have a go at making some myself. The idea is to make some nearer to Christmas along with the various chutneys and other home made gifts I'm busy making. This afternoon was a trial run as it were.

I've used silicone bakeware before to bake bread and not had any problems. If I'm making anything in the cake line I generally use or adapt a 30 year old victoria sponge recipe I know by heart. Today, however, I followed a cupcake recipe to the letter and the results were disastrously heavy. Even my husband who eats practically anything that answers to the description of a cake declared them to be so.

Has anyone used these type of moulds before or have any ideas as to what may be the problem?
    Thanks a lot ladies.

Annie56, please report and forward your abusive PM to abuse. It's unacceptable to send messages of that kind. If nobody reports it, such users will feel free to vent their venom. I post less and less myself, not helped by my recent defence of one of our board guides, and the accusations ( by a regular poster) of being a sh1tstirrer, and wanting bad feeling, needing trouble to lift my day etc icon9.gif I realise the poster is bitter and twisted, but nevertheless it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Nothing excuses the rantings, not even alcohol ;)

Today I finally manged to get my bum into gear and co-ordinated cooking a roast dinner with cooking a wheaten loaf, an apple pie, and some stuffed hearts for tomorrow's dinner!!!!! I'm still smirking at this success. It's not often that I achieve such planning :rotfl:

It turned suddenly mild late on, so the thermostat was turned down, and that's a couple of hours heating saved. Thank goodness for the versatility of gas CH :D

Hope all are doing well, it's certainly a battle out there
