Coalition crack on to cutting benefits to Baby Factories

I know I am going to regret posting on this thread but what the hey...here goes.
The economy is in deep doo doo and something really needs to be done and that something involves trying to tackle the biggies, the things which cost the country a large amount. One of those things and one could say, an easier target, is the benefits bill.
The middle earners have already been hit with the loss of child benefit and tax credits (for over certain incomes), so now it is the turn of those at the bottom of the chain...tough as that may be.
We ALL need to share the pain.
Why??? The only people that need to share the pain are those that decided to churn kids out without any safety net in place and expected the state to come to rescue when the s**t hit the fan (redundancy for example). And don't give me "there's no jobs" BS because there are always jobs if you get off your !!!!! and look for them.0 -

Please direct me to the section of my post where I said it was.
The point is that if your income only just exceeds your outgoings then you shouldn't be having kids as you'll be up S**t Street should anything bad happen. And this is how the vast majority of people live their day to day lives : they want it all right now and don't give a toss what the consequences are should it all go tits up because the good ol' state will bail them out with other peoples taxes.
It's nothing to do with being an "abnoxiox[sic] ignorant", it's everything to do with plain common sense and taking responsibility.0 -

Yet you want to base THEM ALL down to 2 measures; income and number of children. From this I can tell you are a frustrated childless singlton. Let God weep for the babies you wish to condemn to a life of starvation and exploitation. But I guess thats what you really want. Free and easy access to children you can use at will. There is a name for beasts like you so I am reporting you. God willing a person in authority find and scours your hard drive.

My OH works 6-7 days a week we have 3 children (he earns a bit under the cut off). Like most people we are hard working (I'm studying and have a placement at a nursery, leadin to employment when qualified) we had our children late as we didn't meet until our mid 30's (I had a child from a previous marriage). My OH paid all his taxes for 20 years without children and if he earned a bit more then where would our child benefit be but wait... my OH and myself have paid into the system; what about the Eastern European workers who have their child benefit sent back to the country where their children are!! Surely that being stopped would save some money. And why say we'll send 60 million we haven't got to Pakistan we need the money to save our country.
In my house if we can't afford we don't have, we haven't had a holiday in 8 years, we have instead used our money to renovate our house. We have old fashioned TVs, a PS2 and a Wii that was a Christmas present. I'm very careful (some would say tight) with my money. The difference to benefit claimers is this something for nothing - when I unfortunately had to claim (for 4 months) when I left my 1st husband I would have been £20/week better off not working but I have something sadly lacking from what I can see and that's pride and I went to work rather than sponge and still paid back into the system.
Don't judge all the 40k plus earners as having pots of cash as it's just sooo not true.0 -

That of course is your view and you are entitled to it.
I only meant the pain of getting the economy healthier, the poor state of which cannot be laid purely at the benefit claimant's feet, there were other factors (some will blame the banks, others an individuals greed etc).
You can have all the safety nets in place but if a problem persists, those safety nets don't last forever, a fair few are time restricted so if you hit a problem with an illness for example, after the time has elapsed, you are indeed up poo street.
I have never mentioned availability of employment, there is work out there, albeit mostly low paid but work there is (although not enough to cover all the out of work people if they all had to suddenly get a job) and time and patience tends to pay off.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Now that is what I call tact. They certainly demonstrated an extremely twisted way of thinking and I was wondering why its so twisted. The reason for such an odd post by them is clearly to do with something in their own life and we could speculate as to what that is till the cows come home - or they start talking sense. My bet is on the cows coming home first.0 -
Repeat after me;
You are not "poor" if you are getting £26k per year for free in the form of benefits!
And if you think these people are poor, then so are half of the country who earn a lot less than £26k per year after tax and NI, including those with no kids, who work every day, all week and are taxed to provide for those that don't work.0 -
I think the child benefit cut off should be based on the family's total income, mind you its about time cuts were made- when my kids were small all we got was child benefit and my husband's wages which were always just above the limit to get any help0
