What an inspirational thought - 6 weeks is a LONG TIME. I think I needed that. I was feeling very frustrated about not hearing from the interview (10 days ago), despite them promising to let me know and also sending an email on Monday. Made me think "OK can still find another job in 6 weeks".
Re: Cookworks deep fat fryer - I looked at that one and decided the capacity was very small and went for the next one up £19.99 and that is great. Plenty of room to do chips and can get 4 scotch eggs at a time in.
That design has a slight problem with the basket, unless you have a bigger one the basket is difficult to shake and turn the food. Hope you know what I mean that's hard to describe.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

I had a deep fat fryer and found it was very hard to keep it from getting greasy and sticky. What I use now is an old saute pan which has lost its non-stick (or you could use an old saucepan) and a very wide, flat draining spoon. I can get a pan full of chips out of the fat with just three scoops so it's no real problem not having a basket.
Then I drain the oil through an old J cloth in a funnel (top of a plastic bottle) into a used mayo jar and that keeps the oil nice for several fryings. After that, it's a doddle to clean the pan itself and it's much easier to store than a fryer. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
What an inspirational thought MG! :T
I'm still ploughing on with the 50 day challenge, and will be going on holiday the day after it ends until well into the new year, so not going to plan anything on top of thatHowever, the mentor is right - there *is* still plenty of time! :T (also plenty of Christmas related things to organise  :rotfl:)
Still full of cold, feel rotten, hope you're a little better, at least there's only me to look after here, and I'm hoping that Mr Daffs will help look after me too0 -

The mentor asked me why I was concentrating so far ahead? Dd I not realise that there are 6.5 weeks beween now and the new year - and that looing at Jan 1st as a new start is counterproductive. There is plenty time now to achieve some really significant life goals.
I'm off to have a think about the significant thing I am going to achieve BEFORE the turn of the year. The changes in your life occur from the choices you make today - not the plans you make for 6 weeks time.

We really do get so hung up on NY resolutions.
Woke up this morning with a 'sandpaper' throat (which either means I am heading for a cold or two lunches with friends meant I talked too much) So skipped class this morning, but will use the time to sort the bits of paper that have scattered themselves around the house and remind myself that I am on the 50 day challenge

Hypno don't be sorry you have a lot of things on your plate and that's the beauty of the matrix there are so many of us that some are bound to be up, some down, some positive, some less so, some busy, some quiet but there is always going to be someone to give support and encouragement at any one time when people need it and you have provided that in the past and will again in the future.:A
Coughy kids here so I am housebound at the moment so trying to sort stuff out. Six weeks is a long time thank God as when I mind mapped my 50 day challenge I realised that I still have a lot to do.
Went to the clinic yesterday I have half a stone to go and they have sorted out my plan for phasing off and booked my final consultation with the doctor which is 20th December - the final day of the 50 day challenge coincidence I don't think so:) So that will be my Christmas present to me I will have reached my healthy weight and will have started my maintenance phase :j It is has been a strange few months but not unpleasant and I could never have dreamt that I would have lost all this weight in so short a time without feeling like !!!!!!. I made up my mind I was prepared to sacrifice "normal life" for this and I did it for me and I have succeeded now I need to decide what else I need to do for me and get on with it - I know this has to relate to career/business/job but I am still not clear on the direction to take.
Hope everyone has a good positive day.

I think we do have a tendency to wind down at this time of year, think "there's only six weeks left" and put things off till January (when we feel tired and wintery and end up not getting started on them till at least February - or is that just me?!
) So I will definitely be thinking about what I can achieve by the end of the year - the 50 day challenge is helping with that.
Apologies to those who read my diary as this is a bit of a lazy copy and paste with a few changes...
I went to an awards event last night for my second job - got the certificate for the first qualification I've done through them, and met some of the people I've been working with and mentoring. I've been doing some extra work for the project website and it was made quite a fuss of (it was being shown on a big screen when I walked in!). I wasn't as embarrassed about that as I would have expected to beI also had some really fascinating conversations - and for some reason agreed to be filmed talking about the project, again, nothing like as awful as I thought it would be! One of the people I'm mentoring is quite shy and I kind of talked her up into joining in the filming too, and she really enjoyed it, so I was really pleased about that. I generally surprised myself by not being shy and chattering away to people a lot.. oh and the food was great
This morning I got my first philosophy assignment back marked and got really good feedback - have to say thanks to Firewalker for reading it over for me and giving me some fantastic guidance.

Gone on MG treat yourself - If you don't want/need the top up, I will take it off your hands.
How about a good old fashioned chip pan and basket ? I picked a pan with a lid and a basket for about £6 altogether - pan from Tesco, and basket from Wilkinsons, but they had pans at a good price too. Just leave the oil in the pan if you use it regularly or decant when cool and re-use if you don't.

Wow DT, well done you! :T :T Just goes to show what you can achieve in a few months if you put your mind to it - and that it *is* worth it :j :j What a lovely Christmas present to yourself! :T Long may it continue :j
And what you said to Hypno is spot on too - there's enough of us that the cheery folks can encourage those who are a little bit down, and we can all eventually take our turn at each. :T0 -
