Ah, what a lovely post Triker :j :j So glad your daughter's enjoyed it - they certainly seemed to be engaged and enjoying themselves! :T (and thanks for bringing the cookery books too - I think one of the ones I took might well become a Christmas present :)

And yes, a HUGE well done to MG for her first welcome back session! :T :T :T I think I kind of forgot that was the case today  What an utterly fabulous start to the world tour :j :j :j Hope they just continue to get better and better :T :T

Now then - to those ladies who were pontificating earlier about how they'd achieved nothing of the 50 day challenge so far.... As someone rightly pointed out, we're 13 days in, and what you're doing is looking at your challenges and what you've done towards them so far, and reassessing what else you need to do towards them - that's not failing, that's achieving! :T So, you might have done nothing towards one of your challenges - what's stopped you? Did you forget that it was part of your challenge? Was it too difficult? Can you adapt it? Can you break it down into small steps, and decide which ones to do this week to get you started? Don't look back - look forwards! :T xx
  • Thank you all for taking the time to come and let us know how well the day went.
  • Give yourself a rest every so often, but don't give yourself an excuse to give up. Remember why you started in the first place, and recommit yourself to getting it done.
Instead of fighting and striving and struggling to get it done, take a moment to take a deep breath and to smile a genuine smile. Take control of your own attitude, and choose to enjoy the work you're doing.
Rather than resenting what you must do, celebrate what you have the opportunity to achieve. Reward yourself for your discipline and persistence by feeling truly good about what you're able to get accomplished.
With every effort, you are creating new value. With every moment, you are moving closer to the goal, and rewarding yourself along the way. -- Ralph Marston

  • Oh Triker, I had a wee tear in my eye reading your lovely post. How wonderful that the day has been so positive for your daughters.

Thank you everyone for coming online and giving us the flavour of the day, sounds like it went really well and that everyone enjoyed themselves so much too. And the cake sounded delish...
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

  • 5 to 12 - and I'm home, pooped but the door was opened by a very excited Mum who had logged in to find out how the day had gone. And no I don't knw why she doesn't say hello.

Got a cup of tea for my sore throat - so off to have a quick catchup and then off to bed.

  • Here's a nice website which I use for a daily dose of encouragement and positivity - there is a new message each day. Today's is good for those of us who are frustrated with ourselves and want our baby steps to be bigger and faster!

You can have a look back at other entries by clicking just below Ralph Marston's signature at the end of the day's message. Ralph has kept me going through the rigours and stresses of the past 4 years, his messages are all positive and universal.

ETA Some of the slide shows on the rhs of his website are absolutely beautiful.

    GQ, thank you.
I have just had a quick look at the site and it looks really interesting.
Am I correct in thinking that you have become a subscriber?
If so, do you think it is a good idea?

Thanks for letting us know that you got home safely, you must have been shattered
Like Triker I took my two girls to the course & just went back for cakes & chat afterwards. I think it is fair to say that I encountered a fair amount of teenage resistance to getting out of bed on a Saturday morning which called for firm and decisive parenting but in the car home they too could recite the countries of he EU although interestingly they too forgot the Netherlands. DD2 is resitting some of her AS exams in January and has said she will try the techniques on them so I will report back in March/April time if it has led to a stunning improvement.
On a personal note, unfairly Elaine looks about 7 or 8 years younger than she actually is, and is taller than I expected. Double Trouble is much slimmer than I expected but I think stupidly that my mind seized on the word double and visualized a double sized person.
As you would expect from the Matrix, everyone was of course, very nice.
  • Thanks for letting us know you were home safely MG - I'm not surprised you were tired - the energy you must have put into the day, plus all the energy in getting to the point of running your first session, plus all the travelling

Hope you had a good nights sleep and we will hear from you later.

I found this on the site GQ recommended.

    True priorities
What are your true priorities? Take a look around and you'll clearly see. The reality of your life is a result of the priorities you've chosen. Consider where those priorities have brought you.
Yes, of course there are many factors beyond your control. Even so, the way you respond to life's ups and downs is what determines where you go.
Your priorities are not necessarily what you say they are. Your priorities are best evidenced by the way you live, moment by moment, day by day.
If you're pleased with where those priorities have brought you, then you'll surely want to hold on to them.
If you know that things could be better, a positive change in your priorities will reliably get you there.

Either way, your priorities are yours to choose at any moment by the actions you take. And the way you choose to live them can make all the difference in the world.
    -- Ralph Marston

The bits I underlined jumped out at me.
If the way I am living each day reflects my priorities then I need to change both sharpish.
  • Wow its lovely to hear all the stories from Leeds - glad it was successful for all. :)
