he tried to grow onions, lettuce watermelon strawberries and tomatos
My tomatoes were dire for the second year running so he's not alone in that. Not going to bother next year as they took forever to ripen
Not tried to grow watermelon or onions or strawberries. Lettuce is normally pretty simple to grow, cut and grow again varieties like lolla rossa are just a case of sowing the seeds, watering, put in a sunny spot and watch them germinate. Other varieties like little gem are quite good too. I grow lettuce in little troughs rather than direct into the ground.
Don't give up, my first year I struggled and had a steep learning curve but he'll get there.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

He's only 13 so there's lots to learn, I think he needs a greenhouse.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
clairewop - easypeesy growing is perpetual spinach, mixed salad leaves ( on the windersill if cold otherwise outside), at the right time definately courgettes, rhubarb is good (but don't pick in the first year), otherwise all year round you can sprout beans (very nutritious).
Other than that the best thing is fresh herbs, far better than dried etc..
MIL does well with new potatoes in buckets/tubs, so far better tasting than the shops.
Other things can depend on the area and the place.0 -
Evening All
Have had a week starred with positives. I feel like I've emerged from a fog; I feel sharper and I'm really fired up for my interview on Monday.
Yesterday my boss's wife went in for a big operation - although she ended up having a hysterectomy that was the most positive outcome (she could have ended up getting her bladder removed). My sister had some cervical cells removed a few weeks ago that were stage 2 and she has received the news today that they are confident that they were all taken away and she will need no further treatment
And finally my boss and I are relocating to merge with the rest of the firm on Monday - he has just rang me to say he wanted to take his last opportunity to treat me as someone special and is giving me tomorrow off on the quiet :T

Sure thing. No rush at all. FInally got into your website, yeah!0 -
Claire, I think that to make things workable for yourself, you need to give yourself a break. So perhaps part of your terms and conditions could say something like 'I will do my best to get orders to you within x days, but occasionally [circumstances beyond my control?/I have a disability which can flare up at any time/whatever] this will mean your order will be slightly delayed. I will email you if this happens [a NON apologetic email!!], and give you the opportunity to cancel your order with no charge [so they can go elsewhere if need in a hurry]'
Perhaps that would give you a bit of a break? Then it's upfront, people know they might have to wait a little, you're not rushing and making your arm worse, and if they need it urgently they can go elsewhere? Makes it more personable tooWhat do you think? You weren't overambitious at all girl! <looks sternly at Claire> You're doing the right thing, you just need to make it workable for YOU - you're doing this to allow yourself to be flexible, remember that!

Claire, I think you need to set yourself some realistic timescales. Unless you get to make a large number up front, your items are bespoke and as such people will be happy to wait for them. You will only fail if you don't meet peoples expectations- by not being realistic in the first place. If you say it will take 7 days from order to despatch, then people will know exactly were they stand. My biggest bug bear when buying anything online is bad communication. If I am told up front that it will take x days to be posted out I am happy, but if I am not told the truth I get really miffed. Most of all I want people to be honest.0

I'm a firm believer in the adage, 'he who never makes mistakes, never makes anything'
You have nothing to beat yourself up about (I know thats easy for me to say).
But it annoys me whn people in positions of seniority think they have the right to run people down
I'm way behind on the thread again, but this was fantasia's reply to Squizz about an email she received that was a pain in the arris.
Brilliant post, fantasia, thank you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Have been giving a lot of thought to what I might be able to achieve over 50 days. At the moment I am in a lot of pain with a back problem. I have osteoarthritis in my spine (had a hip replacement 9 years ago as it was in my hip - and is now in the other hip and my knees as well) and this has become more and more restricting. On days like today every step is horrid. I've been for another MRI scan this morning and have another appointment with a neurosurgeon next Friday. I need to give a lot of thought to the extent this is really limiting me. I think I am afraid to do some things because I am afraid it might hurt. I need to overcome this rather negative thought pattern and give things more of a go with a 'get out' if I'm really sore. Think I need a kick up the proverbial!!!!!!!!!!
1. I'm not grossly over weight, but could do with losing a stone. This is very slow because I find exercise difficult. I shall loose 5lb. That should be achieveable.
2. I will do my pilates exercises every day.
3. I am trying to declutter my office/craft room. I need to clear the cupboards and use the space more effectively to store my rather over-enthusiastic stash of wool. I shall finish this task.
4. I shall also finish decluttering, ordering and cleaning my kitchen cupboards.
5. I shall raise £10 by selling some of my clutter on ebay.
6. I shall make and sell 3 craft items on ebay.
7. I shall make a master monthly shopping list that will make both shopping and budgeting easier.
8. I shall drink 8 glasses of water on at least 5 days each week.
Seems quite a modest list - might need editing before we start.......

So you think it can still be done then with a little amendment to the website, I have a good stock of stuff here that can keep the website ticking over, the only thing that needs to be made to order are the xmas halloween and birthstone earrings, everything else is bespoke so once it made and on the website that's it, just means parcelling them up and sending them in the post
I think tomorrow I will concentrate on getting more on the website as its had a good few sales in the last few weeks and there's not that much left on there now. That way I can still hopefully have sales but it gives my arm some breathing space from making
and hopefully the pain will subside, I just don't like letting people down
I have earring orders paid for sat waiting for me to do and I cannot do them
