    Hi MG,

Sorry I haven't been around but had quite a lot on my plate, hopefully it will slow down from now on.

Right, I emailed your website to parents but the feedback I received wasn't very positive. They would like to receive a leaflet which clearly explains why they over 10yr old kids should attend for the training and what it will involve (such as lunch included or it's packed lunch, whereabout it is (this is a main, they would all love something local (Clapham/Battersea), what time, etc). So I would really appreciate if you could make a leaflet, email it to me so I can forward them once again. They like the idea of sending the children for the training but as there are not enough details on the website and only heard from me about this crazy world tour, they are vary to book it.

Crazy coincidence - guess what I've been doing today???

Yup the free info leaflet that they can get emailed to them:D

Can you gove me a day or so to get it ready?

    Many thanks hon

  • I agree with the leaflet suggestion. Even a downloadable flyer with a bit more detail would be a start.

If you could do a sample timetable people would know what they are getting.

Back to the budgets, I jsut lifted my head up for a second... x

Thanks for the tips on public speaking - it's part of a bigger confidence problem with me.. a few of you have mentioned how you take criticism. Just now I've had an email from a (very) senior colleague pointing out that part of an email I sent him didn't quite make sense. It was a fair point, but put in a rather sarcastic way, and I just feel useless now. I have this horrible perfectionist thing so if I get something wrong, and someone points it out, I beat myself up about it - I will probably be thinking about it in the middle of the night! :o

There is nothing wrong with criticism if its constructive and conveyed with tact. Its destructive criticism that does the damage and is a complete waste of time. Its a defence mechanism used by people who don't have the social skills to communicate their thoughts properly, and take obscene pleasure in denigrating other people for their own sordid amusement.
I'm a firm believer in the adage, 'he who never makes mistakes, never makes anything'
You have nothing to beat yourself up about (I know thats easy for me to say).
But it annoys me whn people in positions of seniority think they have the right to run people down

TMIF- Accept that if you are eating a healthy although low calorie diet feeling hungry for a few hours will not kill you nor will it make you faint no matter what our Mums told us.
Also helps to visualize the person you want to be and the person you don't: slim and attractive ? Or giving in to hunger and stuffing a doughnut in your face as you walk down the street ?
As an incentive I have worn a rather nice dull orange Per Una Jacket for the first time today. I bought it in the sale 3 years ago and have not been able to fit into it until now. It has attracted many compliments at work.

Red Squirrel - I used to be very nervous about speaking in front of a room and avoided it when I could but then accepted that this was something I could overcome. The first few occasions I used to pretend I was someone else, someone good at this sort of thing but after a while it stopped bothering me and all the things I'd feared either didn't happen or didn't bother me. Someone asks a question you can't answer? Say you'll find out and e-mail them. You dry up in front of people? Laugh & say you've lost your place in your notes and carry on anyway.

I agree. I was asked to take on a job involving public speaking. I reluctantly accepted and it was the best job I ever had.
Another speaker on the first session I did, where I missed out huge chunks through nerves, helped me by reminding me that I knew far more about my subject than the audience. I wore lovely brooches which helped me believe that everyone was starring at my beautiful jewellery rather than looking at me, which I disliked, and I held on tight to a couple of crystals (rose quartz I think, which I found gave me confidence). It is amazing what a difference it made. And I used to be so shy..............

And if you don't know an answer, saying you will find out and get back is always a winner - I do not believe that anyone knows everything!

For the meet on the 13th - how does this suit? Just along from Headingley?

    BTCV Hollybush ?

West Leeds if that helps? Unless someone has a suggestion for someplace more central?
