OK so it's a bit like Challenge Anneka (showing my age now) where you ask for donated services and products rather than money ?

I remember Challenge Anneka and I'm in my 20s :D

  • Mg - maybe we could approach some of the premier league teams to make a donation to help with freight costs ?
Thats a good idea - but I'm supposed to play with his rules - which means not asking anyone directly to pay for it - 1 hour 25 minutes.

THink this is gong be a "three cup of coffee problem" - off to put the kettle on and bring some books downstairs for todays orders.

Okay... in that case... I think it is time to hit the phones and try and find airlines that fly to South Africa regularly, Shipping companies that go to South Africa regularly, chartered holiday companies, safaris, and anything else we can think of and guilt the !!!!!!s into taking the stuff for free. Lets face it, it is free publicity for these companies, and hopefully they can get some nice warm fuzzy feelings into the bargain. And they are flying there anyway....:D

I'd love to help more but my pesky Vice Chancellor is demanding my attention. I might ask him if he has any ideas!! :D

Sorry, pressed the wrong button. I think that you don't ask anyone to pay directly if there is no payment in money done - but it is a barter; you trasport my stuff I'll help you do this.... Which means that we have to convince someone who has means of transportation that they will benefit greatly by transporting the stuff to SA.

Their benefit can be (possibly) publicity through the Matrix and increased profile and revenue. Is this TV appearance still on? We need to think who needs to raise their profile at the moment - BA? may be? Get thinking guys...

    Some ideas anyway.

    Hey Jo

One of the things that's come up in this thread and the make do and mend one was how difficult it is sometimes to accept things. If I were you I'd be delighted and bank it, and send them a lovely card explaining how you spent it with your DD.

MG I haven't got a clue about the mentor challenge. The only thing I can think of is if we all pool our air miles, loyalty points, if we all collectively gave something small, or if someone donated a prize and we had a lottery?! Can't wait to see what the mentors say :D

MG, this is sign - Crickett and I pressed the button at the same time (exactly) and got to basically the same idea by different routes.

    This cannot be coincidence.

    Do you know about this

And a book called Plato not Prozac by a guy called Kostoff (but have forgotten his first name).

Oh that sounds really interesting - thanks! I read something a while back about an organisation where philosophers help businesses to work through problems, which quite appealed to me as well.

  • I am on now MG but won't be on much until later as I have the auditor coming in a min and then off to Congleton so won't be back until this evening. Two hours is not long so it must be something really blindingly obvious and if it involves the bank money too and you will have it by Tuesday it must be something already here but I will copy you the email from the football sponsors but from the way the challenge is worded I don't think this is the answer they were expecting. Sorry I can't be of more help but if there is anything you want me to do tonight let me know. All I can think of is you do a course for the bank they write off the debt and pay the air freight and get good publicity but they have not exactly being playing ball have they? Otherwise you do a presentation for a football club/airline? sorry I am just rambling
    now.

All I can say is I am glad it is you not me 54 mnutes left

Could we get hold of signed current football tops to sell / suction / raffle?

Or would they stretch to a tour of a stadium etc?

Actual cost, virtually nothing to the club, but money could be made.

MG - could you do something a club meal, sell your services and pass the money on?

*that last line reads a little wrong!*

50 minutes and counting actually ----

but I've got a germ of an idea that I think satsifies all of his criteria

    Pays £250+ for Olives Airfreight

uses the power of the people on here - and their connections - and would only take everyone 15 minutes.

Need to go crunch some numbers

    Back soon

PS Olive - you need to write a Management book about this whole process - and how from little acorns - lol
