    Leave a garlic bulb by the window and the flies will steer clear.
    For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

    thanks, I actually keep my garlic on the window sill, coincidentally!!

    If they are still coming in with the garlic bulbs there, you could try crushing a clove and leaving it in a saucer of water. The only drawback is that really strong garlic will deter visitors as well as the flies.

    What type of fly electric fly zapper have you got. For me it has to be ones like this link here
    As the smaller ones in my opinion are useless

    Can of Raid works in here.. it gets rid of people and flies!! But that's ok, I don't really want either :p

    Citronella oil is recommended by our council's waste management dept., I get citronella tea lights from HB, they seem to work most of the time, even just dotted around the house unlit seems to help.

    My brother lives in south-western France and it gets rather hot there in the summer.Both he and his neighbours swear by lavender, and most of the houses round about have a tub of lavender growing by the kitchen door on the patio.
