I've been plauged by fruit flies this year. It seems to have coincided with my experiments into the art of homemade wine making!0

Hiya..
I had a problem with them last year..They are the devil lol. Hate those !!!!!!s.
Here's a tip:
Get some apple or balsamic vinegar (white won't work) and pour enough into a glass that it's about 1 inch then add a few drops of washing up liquid...leave it overnight in a place where they are most active (kitchen most likely) and in the morning check the glass..you should quite a few of those in the glass.
If you wonder why vinegar..it's because to flies..it smells like rotten fruit*If you like the advice I give...let me know by clicking the THANKS button*

Good tip:T if they like wine I'm sure they'll love balsamic vinegar. I have Cyder Balsamic - fruit fly heaven -literally:D0

I been getting these flies too I never known so many small flies around house like this, despite killing them I still keep getting them0

I use a stick on thing on my window which catches and traps them - they are attracted by my compost caddy which is emptied and washed out regularly but they are VERY attracted by fruit and veg rotting. It's like a flower and lasts for ages ... as long as I can bear the sight of all its victims:o
You could also stick a strip of brown paper on the window and smear honey on the strip - they will be attracted to that, stick to it and die.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I have had a lot of very tiny flies and tracked them down to the compost in a pot plant.
They aren't fruit flies, much too small so I wonder if they are actually breeding in the pot, in which case I think the only way to get rid of them will be to re-pot.
I keep thinking I'm seeing spots in front of my eyes when they drift past.0 -
I've noticed quite a few here in the north west, i thought it was a bit late in the year for them.
Thanks for the tips all, i have a bowl of peelings; teabags etc by the sink which i put in the compost i'll go empty it now.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
