I know fly paper would get them, but i don't have any and don't want t wait until tomorrow when i can et some! I did see a kim and aggie and they did something to attract flies thnk it was using some food stuff, but I missed the bit that said what it was!!!!
does anyone know of a way I can get rid of these flies!! right now I have 6 around the tv:o

Hi madnessandmayhem,
There's an earlier thread that may give you some ideas that may help:
Getting rid of flies
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Bit of warm weather and the dreaded flies are here again !
We've got those sticky strips at the minute and they work but its knowing which bit of the rooms to hang them from...........they always seem to aim for a window (daft things coming in then trying to get out again through glass).
Other years we've had fly catcher pitcher plants on the window sill -they worked but not very well. We've even got one of those victorian style glass wasp catchers - put a bit of jam in the top and flies/wasps get in and can't get out. Four fly swats -one for each room ..and I keep missing the wretched things (oh the joy when I actually get one!) and its almost a leap for joy when we get the hoover out and go on the 'attack' !
We do have a herb garden just outside the kitchen and I wonder whether that attracts them towards the house. I've seen them quite happily sitting on the mint leaves.
I love the warmer weather but seems we have to pay a price for it.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

We had a huge problem with flies a couple of years ago. So much so that the house prices in the area went down. The cause was said to be a dissused chicken farm and fly tipping of garden waste etc in the woods. We were provided, at the expence of the local authority, to something similar to Mioiere`s link. It worked a treat, dozens of flies were attracted to it. Problem solved, thank goodness, theres nothing worse than flies buzzing around. The time will come when you have everything but time.0

hello,
I live in the north east, and in the last few weeks I've noticed loads of tiny flies around the house. I had a bunch of flowers in a vase and a day later there were ten dead ones floating in the water! My mam said they were probably fruit flies, they are too small to spray with any chemical stuff and I keep feeling like ive just breathed in and got one in my mouth!!! its creepy!
Does anyone know how to get rid of them, or why they might have appeared?
If they are fruit flies i could maybe trick them out by putting a banana in the leterbox! haha or maybe not....It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

i don't know how to help but i've found i've suddenly got the same problem in the south-east....i was a little puzzled as i would associate them more with summer than autumn....
also my spiders that have taken up illegal tenancy in my flat do not seem to be eating the flies....0 -
i agree that they are probably fruit flies, you dont have any rotting fruit or veg hiding anywhere do you?0

Same prob here, bought them back in off the farm and they are fruit flies,
Had this prob before when I worked in a pub and you unfortunatly have to keep as clean as poss and keep all foods there attracted to covered etc
Also some kind ov vinegar in a jar is supposed to draw them (think its cider cant be sure?) you add a couple of drops of washing up liquid to break the surface tension and give it a gentle shake, cover with clingfilm and pop a few holes in the top, they fly in and drown!!
I use a jam jar btw... will double check on the vinegar but pretty sure its any sweetish one
Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone0
