Getting rid of flies

I have pitcher plants and other asociated carniverous plants. They work better than any electric fly zapper I've tried and unlike the aerosols that my husband adores they don't leave a smell or taste in the air. Very small ones are £3 from garden centres, easy to keep and grow very very fast. Much better than a venus fly trap.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

I bought a pack of 6 plastic fly swatters in the shape of a hand from £World for £1, obviously! The kids love them although hitting each other with them seems to be more fun than swatting the flies! Going to take them camping.0

Hi there  There's an existing thread on ridding your house of flies. I'll add this to keep ideas together.

Hi
cannot stand flys and no matter how small the open gap in the window is they still manage to fly in.
Is there anyway to keep them away from house and garden ... any plants or things to not attract them
I get so sick of them
thanks in advance0 -
Sorry I am sure this has been asked about before... But can I put anything near the back door that flies don't like to stop them coming into house. I just hate them being in the kitchen, I just visualize them spewing on the tops..... sorry!!!0

I put a lavender plant on my windowsil as flies don't like the smell of that and that seems to stop them flying in the window. I'm not sure it would stop them coming in your door though. You could try hanging a bunch of the stuff in your kitchen? Could you get one of those beaded curtain things or a mesh door (cheapie from somewhere like cleaneezy) for the summer?
My OS way is to have a mad cat. He loves to chase them (and eat them) so flies have no chance. He's oriental. Siamese and bengal cats seem to love chasing things."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
Fresh mint does the same thing.

I grow lavender plants at all the doors and I think it does help. There's an earlier thread with more suggestions that may help so I've added your post to it to keep the ideas together.
