Its taken a long time but September is a traditionally good month for house prices but what a fantastic fall. House prices have defied all laws of economics but eventually they will fall back in line. You really would have to be slightly mentally challenged to think that this could continue, the economy if falling apart the banks are still in big trouble. The whole ponzi scheme was held together with liar loans which have been resigned to the history books, people really do need protected from themselves.

Before you post back thinking i am just another person who missed the boat, well i aint. I have my house with 7 years mortgage left but i want house prices to drop dramatically. WHY because i have children and i am clever enough and not selfish enough to hope house prices keep rising. For my children's and the countrys sake this needs to happen.

So in the spirit of MSE give yourself a big pat on the back if you never bought this month you just saved £7000

    Jan - Sept

Halifax looks like it will be around 4-5% negative for 2010 (within my forecast)
Nationwide 0%-2% positive. (within my forecast)

Didn't you forecast snow in June? ;)

4 month up, 5 months down.

    Last 3 months

2 months up, 1 month down.

    Nationwide is similar.

There is no trend at the moment, the way the date is up one month down the next points more to stagnation than falls.

Halifax looks like it will be around - 4% --5% negative for 2010 (within my forecast)
Nationwide 0% - +2% positive. (within my forecast)

You would think people would have learnt not to get to carried away with a months data by now.

No but i did say prices would be fairly stagnant for 2010 within +5% - - 5% range.

I did a poll on it I believe.

I say enjoy the month, but don't get to carried away.
As always with this forum it what ever you write usually ends up biting you on the @rse later down the line. :)

Not to pedantic, but I think you need to read what I wrote,

I said I see the halifax being -4% to -5% now for this year (2010 being a year not year to date.)

Wasn't it the Halifax index that Hamish got all excited about, when forex predicted a rise?

Back to the figures - it's interesting, and the quarterly figure's gone (a bit) negative. One month can just be noise, so it's worth waiting to see whether it's a trend.
agreed. and only an idiot would draw conclusions from this.

don't anyone blame me for being cautious about this report - I've been knocking around the board for the past 3 yrs and witnessed a few false dawns.

but it's more than interesting ND. bulls and bears will both be gagging this morning, aberration or not.

Don't buy tins as you cannot wave the shotgun out the window and open them.
