Halifax index -3.6 %
Full crash speed ahead, big pat on the back if you never bought this month, you just saved £7000 this month.
Hopefully this is the start of some hefty falls and we get back to realistic house prices.

Wasn't it the Halifax index that Hamish got all excited about, when forex predicted a rise?
Back to the figures - it's interesting, and the quarterly figure's gone (a bit) negative. One month can just be noise, so it's worth waiting to see whether it's a trend....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That is a big fall
. I suspect a return to the annoying 'i take my house of the market then'... or ' i'll rent it out' brigade. I hated looking for houses during that period as all the houses were repos which were bags of rubbish.
As a home owner now i dont really feel teh -3% as i not aiming to leave for 5-6 years... Also quickly checked my area and the prices seem to be just the same as always oO.... for the good areas at least.0 -

On another note, is this now a trend?
Jan - Sept
4 month up, 5 months down.
Last 3 months
2 months up, 1 month down.
Nationwide is similar.
There is no trend at the moment, the way the date is up one month down the next points more to stagnation than falls.
Halifax looks like it will be around - 4% --5% negative for 2010 (within my forecast)
Nationwide 0% - +2% positive. (within my forecast)
You would think people would have learnt not to get to carried away with a months data by now.0
