I'd be annoyed and upset and I'd think that your priorities were overpaying the mortgage and not having some fun, seeing the world, spending time with me.

My mother on the other hand would have thought you were just the man for her and probably have proposed on the spot if she'd met someone like you as a single lady. Then again, she wouldn't have gone travelling for months.

I've been supporting her, I was helping her as best I could when she was going through redundancy, bit hard thoguh when she is on other side of the world. Also took her her away when she came back in July
Stop being a !!!! and stop thinking about the money and the "Big Picture" if you you care and love your GF then go and see her and don't mention how much it has cost you, but if you value money above love then tell her it's all over and then check in to speak to someone as you may be emotionally !!!!!!.....

If you really wanna make your GF feel special, fly out a couple of days earlier than planned and surprise her! Its all well and good planning for your future but money and the house etc is all wonderful only if you have the person you love to share it with.

I have 3 days in America on my own before we meet up. I've already rearranged the flights once to have more time with her.

She sounds like a nightmare to be honest, I'd have probably been looking to finish with her on her return.

However, if your happy and you plan to meet her, enjoy your holiday.

I have decided, I am going to go to New York. Wish I hadn't mentioned it to gf but other things in my life were getting on top of me and wasn't looking forward to going away.
Well this sounds like you (irrespective of g/f) do need to get away and hopefully clear your head. You keep drip feeding info into the thread which, certainly in my case, puts a completely different slant on things.
So I wish you a very enjoyable trip, both from the point of having quality time in a special place with your g/f and also hope that the break allows you time to work out how you will deal with the other things in your life that are/were getting on top of you.

Can you change your flights to cut out the few days you'd be on your own until she gets there? After travelling on her own she's probably looking forward to having some shared memories of 'doing' NY together but you could just fly out to meet up when she'll actually be there.

Just an update to this, I didn't end up going, as my girlfriend thought it was best if I didn't go. When she came back, she revealed that she'd fallen out of love with me whilst away and finished it.

    Hope you're OK Barny.

TBH it sounded like you weren't 100% crackers about her either, so the breakup was probably for the best even if it doesn't feel that way right now.
