Our local fuel group price in Wiltshire is 40p for orders placed this weekend. I paid 39p with boilerjuice  2 weeks ago which was delivered last Thursday when people on this forum line were quoting they paid under 35p. For some reason Wiltshire area is more expensive than most others.
I've just taken a random Wiltshire postcode and clicked 'Get Quote' here. Price is 34.63 so I suggest you don't automatically assume that your local group (or boilerjuice) is cheapest. In fact boilejuice rarely is - they just have more extensive marketing. Always shop around......

'Hasbeen', be useful to know what area of country you're talking about.
Our local oil club (Berkshire) tried to get prices for 81k litres on Monday; no suppliers showed an interest, as they said they were booked out for next 3 weeks...and wouldn't give a price :(
    Noticed on our club website:
The Oil Club has been suspended until further notice because oil companies are no longer accepting bulk orders due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Members are advised to place their orders individually.

Thanks @greatcrested I'd not seen the theheatingoilclub quote link before, I thought you had to be a member to get a quote. Last time I joined one of 'those' clubs' they weren't any better than BJuice. But they're showing 34.27p/l + vat for 500l for me. A bit cheaper then. Checked BJuice again and they'd some usurious rates there!

Must be a local regional thing. The Oil Club for me is showing:
Your clubs next order by date is:
    *** This Weekend ***
    Sunday, 29 March 2020
    (We expect rates Friday PM)
Random Berkshire postcode in the heating oil club  comes back : 34.07

  • I'm planning on buying oil through boiler Juice Sunday, I can't recall seeing it so cheap in the 10 years we've been using it at 20.75 ppl. I'm not sure 500 litres will fit it so we'll be having loads of baths in the next 10 days.
We are located between Bristol and Gloucester
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

I can never get it quite right with oil deliveries. Ordered 500 litres in April through BoilerJuice, expected delivery was 3 weeks and the monitor had been showing a half full 1000 litre tank for over a week. Easy. But then the sun came out, the oil expanded and the monitor showed 6 bars out of 10 when the tanker rolled up 10 days early. Managed to squeeze 492 litres in..

Those monitors are not reliable - indicative only. I use mine to tell me it's time to dip the tank.

I have had two monitors. I found them both reliable.   However, the latest smart meter from Apollo was a pain the neck with the alarm going off (even when the alarm was set to zero).   The actual quantity reading was pointless but the percentage reading was pretty much spot on.     I reverted back to the older apollo with 10 bars.   Every time it falls to 4 bars, I order 700 litres.  Job done.

They key to the monitors is getting the settings right and understanding the tolerances.   It also helps if you have a cylinder or cube as a tank and not a multi-angled shape.  Those are really difficult to use monitors on.
