Debt free in ten years-my new, more realistic challenge.

SIL has taken our cheque to the city to put it in the bank for us.
I am going to ring Good energy to find a more up to date amount that we owe to organise paying it off as soon as cheque clears. Then I can pay a bit extra to HMRC and a bit to accountant too.
I have written a new menu plan for the month and will stick to it. I fed etc 3 men and me for £130 in February but have run out of loo rolls, shower gels, laundry liquid and a few other consumables.
DD took our laundry away yesterday and washed three loads in her machine for us. She has solar panels and had free electricity yesterdayI will make use of her offer a lot more when the sun shines.

Electricity has been changed to Scott1sh p0wer. £111 per month instead of the £180 with Good energy.
I went to the co-op and picked up some reduced bread rolls which I need for the soup lunch we are organising for charity next week. I am going to make spicey butternut squash and minestrone soup. Also sold another 4 bags of rice for the 90 kg Rice challenge.
My friend gave me some salmon in exchange for some eggs yesterday so we are going to make a tasty fish pie for dinner tonight with the salmon and some cheap fish from 1celand. My menu plan says tuna pasta bake so I am varying it already. So much for sticking to it.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

We are with SP. Saved £30 per month on a small house. Plus I like their online system. Doesnt seem to limit how many times you can put in your meter readings and it works out your average kw per day and shows you clearly in a table so you can see what you are using. Next year I might have to be bahumbug at Christmas after seeing how much just a few sets of lights used :eek:One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.

You havent changed menu plan greatly, just a wee tweak.

I was hoping to buy some LED lights in the sales after Christmas as they are very low energy users. As we had no spare cash it will have to wait for another year. I t may be a bahumbug Christmas here too.
Being able to input readings regularly will help us keep on top of things more easily. I hadn't realised it was available with SP.You havent changed menu plan greatly, just a wee tweak.

The fish pie was scrummy. And I still have the tuna for another day
I could make a tuna pasta bake another day. I have found a great way to cut costs. Make tuna pasta bake without the tuna. I don't know how many times I have forgotten to put the tuna in. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:And no one noticed. Very MSE:money:business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Flabbergasted at price of tuna these days....I quite often swop to using tinned sardines etc. healthier I suspect ( omega oils etc) but am sure are cheaper. Think tuna is so popular they can charge what they like.
Pity you have left GE pooh..but that's a saving you can't ignore. We are obsessed with checking what we have generated...I can't wait to have a wireless meter again to check consumption too.

beanielou I make mine with a tomato based sauce with loads of veggies chopped up small and grated cheese on top. It used to be a way to get loads of extra vegetables into the children without them knowing.
brizzled I am sorry to leave them too. And I am jealous of you being able to produce your own electricity. In my ideal world I will have solar pv panels, a turbine maybe and solar water heating too. Just have to make do with the wood burner for now...
BTW We still use GE for the holiday cottage so it is a good 'green' business.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Have you seen the new section on TCB and £co where you claim cash back via your supermarket shops either in store or on line? You can either use an app, or scan or take a photo of your receipt and upload it, its really easy (just make sure they can see the whole receipt).
I've only bought what I would usually buy and the specific pack size or number of packs you had to buy was going to be a good deal and already I have had just £10 cashback. TCB make it available to pay immediately and £co pay it on the next payment run. I don't have a huge shopping budget (I try to stick to £200 per month inc 2 big dogs) and you still get the cashback even if you bought it on offer :money:.One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Wow, that is amazing. I will definitely use it. Last time I used either they didn't give cash back except on first online orders so I hadn't looked again.
