How was I meant to know, when they done away with paper bills... how difficult is it to inform your customner of the change in service... what age do we live in... there are several ways vodafone could have let me know if they wanted to... why would any sane person continue to pay £15.00 extra for the same service...0

If you are not capable of working out when eighteen months is up and understanding the terms of your agreement, perhaps you should stick to PAYG? Vodafone have done nothing wrong.Gone ... or have I?0 -

So actually your only complaint is that you were not notified in writing that your line rental would increase from £10 to £25 at the end of your contract and special reduced line rental?
Something which I reacon you were probably informed of and signed an agreement to to say you understood 18 months before it happened?
Personally I don't know if Vodafone still does paper billing - I chose paperless years ago because it's easier myself.
You can instruct a solicitor if you want, at your cost, to try and fight a large company who from the looks of things have only followed the contact you signed originally... and yes contracts continue to run after the initial period unless you cancel it as per the terms and conditions (which again you will have signed to say you agree with... or at least were provided with and told you had x time to change your mind if you did it over the phone...
personally I'd say if you don't like it... cancel it... and move on because the solicitors fees is going to be FAR more than you think and I think based on what you're saying you have little to no chance of winning...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

So in the last 5 months you haven't once checked your bill on Vodafone's website then? Or checked your bank balance to see how much they've taken out of your account each month?what age do we live in...
An age where people normally check their bills online, as opposed to the paper bills they used to receive.0 -

I've never had a paper bill from vodafone and I've always had an email telling me my monthly bill is ready. If I choose not to look at my account then that's my issue.
tbh I've never had a problem with vodafone either and the deals that I've had from them when I've phoned up to get a PAC code has meant that I've stayed with them.2014 Target;

It’s good to see vodafone's loyal customers working hard for them defending a large corporation out to deceive a common Joe.
A solicitor's cost falling under legal services is free as part of a policy I had taken a while ago.
I like where you said about fighting a large company... reminds me of David & Goliath.
It’s not about winning or losing it’s about believing in fairness and justice.
Even if I did not have the legal services, I would still go ahead and pay from my own pocket.
As someone said about living in the age where paper bills have been replaced by on-line billing. I agree it is slowly phasing out the paper bill but it is not as common yet.
To me an 18 month contract sounds like it will end after 18 months if there is no communication from either end. That’s why I would call it an 18 month contract. If however as someone said it will continue after 18 months then shouldn’t we call it an ongoing contract unless cancelled by the customer rather than limiting it to 18 months or would that be too open and transparent.
All I wanted from Vodafone was either for them to continue with the discount or terminate the contract but they chose the option of keeping it going and charging more for the same service, if say you were going to charge more than at least give me more for my money. That £15.00 extra a month did not provide me with a single extra minute or text or any internet bundle.
It seems I’m on my own here as the principles of fairness, honesty and integrity all seem like an alien ideology to the world we live in.0 -
Vodafone used to have brillant customer service, nothing seemed to be a problem. But in the last couple of years customer service is a nightmare, you get put on hold for ages, the people in the shop can be rude and not very helpful. Thankfully I haven't had many problems so I don't have to phone them much.0

I wouldn't say I was a loyal customer working hard to defend Vodafone, more that I'm someone who's happy with the service I receive from them. If I find a better deal when my contract's up, I'll move elsewhere.Asif_Iqbal wrote: »It’s good to see vodafone's loyal customers working hard for them defending a large corporation out to deceive a common Joe.
A lot of companies are phasing out paper bills, but they all replace them with online bills - it's not a case of suddenly not receiving any form of bill. You haven't addressed my question of why you hadn't checked your online bill since last November.Asif_Iqbal wrote: »As someone said about living in the age where paper bills have been replaced by on-line billing. Like mountainofdebt (and I assume all other Vodafone customers who don't receive paper bills), I receive an email each month telling me my ebill is available, and it only takes a couple of minutes to check how much I've been charged. Did you receive these emails? Did you check your bank statements on a regular basis to see what was taken from your account? I agree that Vodafone should let people know what their tariff will increase to at the end of the contract, but you haven't helped things by not regularly checking your bills & bank statements.0 -
Was told with a new upgrade that it was for 12 months, that turned out to be 24 months?? lie 1
then after 18 months the monthly cost rises to £35 from £25,
when asked on line why they tell me my discount has ended?? after a while am told it CAn go back to £25 if I reduce my mins, which I did, only to find nex bill that it has NOT been changed, and the best discounted deal was infact only £5 less, ??
This £5 extra has now cost them 3 accounts come December when it finally ends.. WHATCH WHAT YOUR TOLD IT DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN THAT YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU ASKED FOR...
COMMISION MEANS MORE THAN CUSTOMER SEVICE...
I had a similar experience about 18 months ago. Long story short, they lied about the deal I was signing up to and then 15 months later claimed I must have been mistaken because they would never have said that. Yet you read around and there are countless others with the same experience.
One of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They lost both my account and that of my OH. We won't be going back. And all because they have staff incentives in place that encourage dishonesty and not enough controls in place to stop it.
They could so easiy keep the recording of when a contract is agreed on the phone. It really wouldn't be difficult. Especially for a multinational telecoms operator. Then there would be no doubt, they could just play the conversation back. But no. Instead they just call you a liar and steal your money.0 -
You haven't addressed my question of why you hadn't checked your online bill since last November.
When I originally got the contract, I was more interested in the phone than anything else.
I was never over the limit for my minutes or texts and hence was sure the charges would never be more than the line rent.
With that in mind I was not too concerned to check my statements regarding vodafone.0
