When the Reward account was first introduced, the limit was three per person, and when the t&c were changed, they allowed those accounts to stay open. That's how some of us have three of them. But you can't get three now.0

Well cheers for all ur replies guys.
Woke up dis morning and rang them myself giving my brothers details. He told me to do this as he didnt want them to ring him and ask him questions to which he doesnt have answers to as he doesnt use this as his main account.
They said is was blocked because of unusual activity and ran me thru some security checks to with the credit refernce agencies stuff like who has he got his mortgage with and how many years for who else does he bank with etc...
Of course I passed their test with flying colours because I manage most of my bro's finances. So the account was then unblocked and was told u can not make the payment transfer.
Am glad I phones them before they phoned him.0 -

^^ yep, all recorded and ready for the trial.
@Atlantis - I think you need to get wise to what you're doing. You're taking this to a whole new level by passing yourself off as the account holder - and doing it with his permission just makes him an accessory and could land you both in court.Of course I passed their test with flying colours because I manage most of my bro's finances. well, just a quick update. Last week I went back into the branch with my dad with the relevant documents, and again they decided to close my dads accounts with no explaination. The advisor in the branch let me speak to the fraud team and having chatted to her they reversed everything adn reopened my dads accounts. Also, they re-opened my mums accounts which were closed in october. We all now have 3 reward accounts each earning the £15 every month.0

As far as I know you can speak to the bank about an account if the a/c holder gives verbal permission - I did this for a patient once and I have to do it for my OH as his illness means he struggles to manage his own finances, he just gives verbal permission for me to speak on his behalf, you dont need POA.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

we have all had 3 x reward bank accounts for almost a year now. hold £200 in a halifax savings and just move the money around every month on the same day. But all of a sudden they have all been blocked and we have to take ID into the branch, even though we opened them with ID to being with, are they cottoning on to giving the free fiver every month or is it just a coincidence?? Has this happened to anyone else recently??
I hope they're not smartening up to this
This happened to a friend of mine who had 3 bank accounts (her own) and was moving money around.
They actually had the cheek to ask her if she was money laundering!
She received letter saying they were closing her account down but she was never really given a solid explanation as to why so i can't really help you.
I will get back to you though if she gets a solid answer.0 -
I am really concerned about it. Sounds like Halifax are using some vague suspicion of fraud (no doubt identified by a computer) to get out of a loophole in their T & C's. Changing the T & C's if they don't like people doing this is the only logical thing to do. It wouldn't even be a big change to say £1000 credit in one go. Many accounts with incentives (not this good!) have such a condition.
I would personally complain in the strongest possible terms, go the the FOS and then the papers.
The only thing I can see which differentiates the OP from most people is if they are doing all the transfers within seconds using different logins. If you have the internet banking details of other people then I can imagine this may be a breach of the T & C's.
That's why some banks have card readers and stuff, so even then you are being nailed for some failing on the part of Halifax.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
