Deliab and chameleon - let us know how you both get on today.
Yes absolutely, really hope you both get on ok and you're very soon pain free. Let us know what happens.
deliab - are you sure the emergency dentist did actual RCT yesterday? I am no expert (just been on the recieving end!!) but I would be bit surprised if actual RC was done by an NHS dentist, on a sunday, maybe it was just drained etc as the OP suggested??? How long was the appointment? Yes the whole of the inside pulp of the tooth is removed in RC, but with so much work done in the procedure, it can make the surrounding tissues aggravated and sore.0 -
chameleon, honestly, from someone who hyperventilates over the thought of a dentists appointment - believe me the thought is a million times worse than the actual doing of. Just keep thinking, In half an hour Ill be on my way home and pain free.
Good luck x0 -

Thankyou, and I sooooo hope you're right about the 'pain free' bit
I'm just about to leave for my appt now so will post when I get back, assuming I'm still in one piece“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Think of something completely different when they are fiddling with you - I often go into such a trance I dont hear my bloke when he tells me to rinse or whatever. Concentrate on some sort of problem you want to sort out and dont think about what is happening.0

I'm back! You're right, the fear/anxiety is always far greater than the actual act
I've had the tooth drilled, dressed and filled so not an actual RCT but it has gone down as far as the root so will no doubt only be a temporary fix. How long "temporary" will be is anyone's guess and depends how quickly it settles down. The root was apparently inflamed but not actually infected although it's suspected the tooth next to it could also be causing problems
Still far too numb to know how successful it's been as far as the pain issues go so will have to wait until the anaesthetic wears off later this evening.
Thanks for all the help and support :A“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Wonderful news - you will feel a lot more confident now0

It's funny you say that but I was in the chair a good 40 mins and I did wonder at one point whether she'd just decided to go ahead with the RCT after all without actually telling me, as she seemed to spend a long time drilling and poking about.
I didn't feel a thing though, despite being tense and shaky as anything, so makes me wonder whether I would cope ok having that done now without sedation“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Chameleon are you sure she didnt do an RCT? Thats what it sounds like to me and she has left it to drain before you go back tohave it filled permanently?0

Dentist tells me one thing and receptionist another so I don't have a clue what they're going to do today. They refused to refer me too so whatever happens I'm going to have to try and deal with it without sedation and I'm terrified
im a receptionist myself and id say listen to your dentist, he/she knows exactly whats going on with your teeth, the receptionist doesnt!0
