I always have a big clearout about once a quarter and sell clothes I am sick of, toys and stuff. As I am only wanting to clear the house, I don't really care what they go for, but some things surprise you - I have done brilliantly with toys just before Christmas for example so I will be trying again this year.

However, I do find that buyers tend to try it on more now you can't leave them negative or neutral feedback, all my stuff is perfect condition or it goes on freecycle and yet I have had some horrid emails off people - I just refund now cos I can't be bothered with the hassle.
Condition is always subjective and if you are having a lot of issues with what you are selling I would try and see why people are complaining, as it's people's money that you are taking in return for something they can't handle first, which is problematic. I can see you refund but really this is doing you very little favours in the long run - you want to try and keep hold of the money, so you need to see what you can do to improve the way you list. I had that with my stamps sometimes - I got complaints when selling off some of my collection and made sure I responded pro-actively even though I obviously thought the stuff I was selling was worth what people were paying for it.

If you list you risk your account, there is no way round it.

My usual warning is that whilst the sex industry is a legit business in the UK you do want to think very carefully about trying it on ebay. For a start you are not anonymous, any buyer can get your name address and phone number and if you declare yoruself properly for tax then anyone at all can see those details.

I am getting rid of a load of old clothes at the minute, waiting for FLDs to maximise profit. The secret with clothes is to take lots of pics and descibe each and every fault carefully.

I have listed a pair of used wide calf boots and noticed I had quite a few watchers. Looked up similar items on e bay and even the used ones can go for £20+. Of course, you would have to have a few pairs of those lying around for this info to be useful ;-)..I happen to have another pair in the bottom of my wardrobe gathering dust though!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

Even innocent-looking, quite ordinary (and to be honest rather ugly) leggings, can be seen on a different light by some people...

OMG, that is vile - no knicker line and thighs like papier mache. the mind boggles! I checked her profile and all of her auctions have been private.

If that is the way to make money I will get that bag of clothes for the boot sale out of the shed and get modelling rofl... Thats one way to appeal to the fetish market. The feedback on her profile got me curious with lots of entries saying nice tights!

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/mybitsforsale2009 - I can't believe ebay allows the dirty knicker fetish brigade to sell on there.

just because there is someone listing doesn't mean it is allowed:

Hey, dirty old perverts need love too :rotfl: If some sad old perve is willing to pay good money for someones second hand underwear I say go for it, I doubt they have anything else to spend their money on :D

I'm not even female and I may go through my underwear drawer for ebay, in between running my 1.50 a minute sex chat line for overweight desperadoes :D

Absolutely! Although I don't bother selling items with faults unless it's vintage and is easily repairable.

Also look at how the business sellers are marketing their clothes. If you've got something that's Pure Wool, put that in the heading and take a picture of the Woolmark. Likewise genuine vintage items and excellent condition. Use up all the characters in the heading and don't forget to get the postage right! I've made a mistake before with P&P.

My old wedding dress wouldn't have fetched more than £15 looking at previous listings. However, I used lots of key words to sell it before Halloween, eg Goth, Steampunk, Halloween (obviously) etc. It fetched just under £40 and bought by someone for a party.
