chartbeat spyware or not?0 -
I'm noticing this slowing my browsing of the forum down too. As if the forum wasn't already slow what with all those bits and bobs on the right loading off different servers.0

Hi folks,
Chartbeat is a piece of analytics software we are using, to help us see what is popular on the site, amongst other things.
I will check with the techie team as to whether its implementation (though this was a few months ago), could be having any effect on forum speed.
Cheers

Hi folks, this might help:
http://blog.chartbeat.com/2009/06/22/does-chartbeat-slow-sites-down/
In summary, the answer is that any slowness is highly unlikely to be due to Chartbeat

I think it is to be honest. Every single time I click a link here and it takes ages to load it has waiting for ping.chartbeat.net and every time I get a "site taking too long to respond" timeout in firefox. However, every time I click a link and chartbeat isn't contacted the site loads just fine.
I hardly think chartbeat are going to say "Yes, our software is crap and it slows your site down."0 -
Am I the only one not to have had any mse trouble for ages (except the occasional slowness)? I feel left out ( not).Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Hi,
I keep getting
'A user name and password are being requested by ping.chartbeat.net The site says: "DSL Router" popping up in a grey box, with a bit to fill in name & password...
I'm no techie, any ideas?
Thanks0 -
I blocked chatbeat and other stalky stuff like that in the htaccess file.0

For anyone interested in blocking out this kind of thing on Firefox, you can use Ghostery: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0
