1and1 versus 123.reg?
Options

We have always used 1and1, but I've noticed that 123 have a much clearer and easier to understand website, together with an option for domain privacy. I cannot find that option with 1and1 and it has made me reconsider options.
Has anyone here had any experience of either of these domain name providers and in particular, with regards to maintaining privacy?

I have used 123-reg.co.uk for years, well when it comes to domain names. Cheap and their control panel is plain and simple and you have full control over the domain names purchased.
I use other companies for hosting though. ;0 -
Im having done problems with 123 at the moment. I requested a domain to expire and they renewed it anyway.
Currently in the process of transferring all my domains over.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
123reg are only good for registering domains - definitely buy your hosting elsewhere. When I was a noobie I used them for ease and found
you can only host one domain per hosting plan, so if you have two domains, nightmare!!!
You have to pay for each subdomain which are free with proper hosting companies.
I'm using Bluehost and tbh, it's brilliant. I can have loads of websites, domains on the space and subdomains are free, as are mailboxes. You pay for each element with 123reg and it works out so expensive.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
123 is certainly easy to navigate around, but I am wary of using them now! Bluehost might be good but it's taken already ten minutes for me to find the cost of their domains. I gave up after that. I like things easy since I'm not very technically orientated, but also like a good price and good service. Maybe asking too much, lol!0

I've found https://www.citycm.co.uk to be quite good. I heard of them on this site and I've had a site hosted with them for several months now and had no problems. I never needed their support though so can't comment on that.0

It's always nice to see a recommendation :T

From what I can tell 123 like a lot of providers have a service that is 99% automated. When it works well it works well but if you want proper business grade support then you are probably going to have to pay a lot more.0

I use www.blackfoot.co.uk
Not the cheapest I admit but 110% excellent support/sales, uptime and just everything0 -
