Why state you are "wondering" about something which implies asking a question, when you feel you already know the answer, and jump on someone because they didn't say what you obviously wanted them to say?
Questions about benefit entitlement should be here. Anything else such as opinions, viewpoints and theories should be in discussion time.
Thank you for that, I do not know why I bother with this forum and some of the people sometimes!0 -

Its more likely a dr was sent, according to this source from the site whatdotheyknowDear Billy,Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 20 August 2010. May I take this opportunity to apologise for the delay in responding to your request for information. In your email you asked to be provided with information answering the following questions:-
-
What percentage of Atos medical examiners employed by DWP are not registered and qualified Doctors of Medicine?
-
How many are nurses?
-
How many are Doctors with less than two years post-qualification experience?
-
What percentage of medical reports are made by examiners whose expertise is outside that in which they are assessing?
In answer to Q1 I can advise that based upon Atos Healthcare headcount figures, it has been calculated that 19.4% of Health Care Professionals (HCP) are not Doctors of medicine. In response to Q2 I can state that Atos Healthcare employs 250 nurses as HCPs.
In reply to Q3I can inform you that Atos Healthcare has never employed a doctor with less than two years post-qualification experience. The minimum qualifications and experience criteria for recruitment are laid down, covering both employed and contracted doctors, which includes full unconditional General Medical Council (GMC) registration and a minimum of at least 3 years post full registration (GMC or EEA - European Economic Area equivalent) experience. In answer to Q4 0% of medical assessments are made by examiners who's expertise is outside that in which they are assessing.I can advise you that all HCPs are fully trained in Disability Assessment Medicine. It is the HCP's role to carry out an assessment of the functional effects of the customer's disabling condition, and to utilise the information gathered to provide the Decision Maker with an impartial and independent assessment. Therefore, all benefit assessments and medical reports are completed by HCPs with expertise in the field of disability analysis. Expertise in this field qualifies the HCP to give an impartial, independent assessment on the way in which a customer's illness or disability affects them in carrying out of a range of everyday work-related activities. All HCP's have passed strict recruitment and experience criteria and are registered with an appropriate professional body such as the General Medical Council or the Nursing and Midwifery Council. If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.Yours sincerely,DWP Central FoI Team

The only people that would turn up unannounced would be a Compliance Officer. A doctor's time is far too precious to be making random visits where somebody may or may not be home.Added to that, ATOS play no part in fraud investigation ...... and so have no interest in catching you out."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Failing an ESA medical is good news - it means you're fit.
Not always.
It may mean the assessor or the software lied.
It may mean the assessor or the software did not do a proper assessment.
It may mean the decision maker made a mistake.
It may be due to lots of reasons, that mean you were wrongly assessed.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Would the questions you were asked not have been similar/the same if you had went to them for the medical instead of requesting them to visit you? Not querying why you needed them to come to you, simply stating that it would be the same set of questions, therefore, feels like your problem lies with their script rather than them coming to your house unannounced, and *possibly* trying to catch you out.0
