Hi,
I have been trying to reclaim my PPI for the past two years. Firstly dealing with petermb from here after he contacted me telling me he had a free service. He kept putting me off and saying the solicitor he had wasnt working well with the company and that he had found a new solicitor Guy from a company called Reward Lit.
I wait for months and months and hear nothing and feel that I am pestering if I keep asking what is happening. I then get hold of Guy after another three months and he says he has had a reply from Paragon and will ring me the next day.
Well the next day I get a letter direct from Paragon telling me that they had not heard from my solicitor and due to the 8 week deadline they have sent the offer direct to me.
They offered me £5k out of the £20k I was hoping for so on speaking to Guy we agree to go back and try and get a higher offer.
This was on the 16th July. I have since heard nothing from either him or Peter and I have emailed about 5 times and left a few messages on ALL numbers and emails that I have for them. Still not reply.
I am now worried that I have been conned. He may be a busy person but to ignore all my messages is just plain rude and disgusting behaviour.
Does anyone have any advice please?
I am wondering whether to just contact Paragon myself as they have offered me a small settlement and I have had a less than satisfying two year wait. I could have probably have done better to sort this out myself from the beginning and have it all over with in a couple of months.
I am a single parent who could really do with this money to get a decent safe car. I have mentioned this in my emails to hopefully prod at some conscience but nothing!
I am really desperate as to what to do next in the hope that this guy hasnt somehow conned me out of my claim.

Hi Pammy
Hope your well.
I would personally contact Paragon yourself, it seems like nothing is happening here does it.
Have you also tried making contact with the Ministry of justice about the company (MOJ)......
http://www.justice.gov.uk/contactus.htm
I take it no charges are involved unless there is success, or am I incorrect.
Was thinking if this is the case, then maybe it would be worthwhile asking for all your paperwork back and having a go yourself instead with help from this site.
So Paragon were the brokers who set up and sold your loan then?
Pammy, was your actual PPI for £20K? :eek:The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Pammy. Rewad Litigation are accident specialists, so I am not sure why they are handling a PPI claim on your behalf. In fact, looking at their website, it looks as if they ONLY do accident litigation?
You should not be treated like this, I would write this all into a letter to the managing partner of Reward, stating that unless you get a suitable response within 7 days you will be writing to the SRA (Solicitors' Regulation Authority). That deals with the rubbish service you have received from the lawyer.
As for your claim, I would consider dealing with it yourself. If you need your file (because the solicitor has got it?) then you may have to pay any outstanding fees before the file is released.0 -
Thanks, yeah I have looked at their site and there is nothing stated under the ppi heading.
Apparently they recover the fees from the other side so no fees but i think there is a claus if i accept direct which is possibly what they want me to do. I think I stand a good chance as i have not heard from them since july to waive that contract dont I?
I will let them know that I will be contacting SRA if I do not hear anything. Its such bad practice.
I had three loans totalling £50k for house repairs and this was going to be paid off when the house was sold but things didnt happen that way and I remortgaged instead when I split from my partner.
I think I will contact Paragon and se if anymore correspondance has been mae sice the last letter.

That doesnt happen with financial services redress. As the complaints process is free of charge to use, if you choose to use a third party then you pay for it, even if successful.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Pammy, I think you need to find and carefully read the original letter which Reward sent you (sometimes called Terms of Business, sometimes called Terms of Engagement) and see what it says about fees. I don't see why Paragon would agree to pay your legal fees. In essence, what I think would happen is that Paragon would pay whatever amount is agreed on TO YOUR SOLICITORS, then they would take off their fees, and send the rest to you.
So you might think that if you sack the solicitors, you will not be liable for their fees, particularly given how they have treated you.
However, that might not be the case, and I suggest you check the position ASAP.0 -
I am really worried now. Petermb said there was no charge and that his company had been set up specifically for this reason so people dont get charged. Paragon sent me an offer direct to me.
I have no paperwork in my pocession from RL regarding the contract. Silly me didnt copy the paperwork I sent back. But when Peter first sent me details of the first solicitor he was using I do remember the clause of accepting out of the contract.
How can they charge me when they havent done anthing? Maybe send one letter, dont reply to a letter sent in April (which he claims he never received) and then absolutely nothing since and no correspondence.
I am just infuriated.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Hi Pammy
I would give the MOJ a call, contact details in my above post.
See what they say.
And if the company have your paperwork, you've a right to request for this back. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

"Other consumers may choose to pay a professional – such as a lawyer, accountant or independent financial adviser – to complain for them. We tell consumers up-front that if theyemploy a professional to present their case for them, they will almost certainly have to pay the costs themselves – even if we uphold their complaint."I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
