I enjoyed it too, but think it lacked a bit of pace at times. I also don't think Zachary Quinto was particularly suited to the role, as much as I like him, although Spacey was his usual brilliant self - echoes of his Glengarry Glen Ross performance from all those years ago. I also thought it was one of Jeremy Irons' best roles in years.0

Re Margin Call...what a 'boring' ending! The audiable 'sigh' of 'is that it?' at the end, went around the cinema like wildfire. Disappointing I thought. Glad I didn't pay to see it!makinprogress0

There was a sense of that feeling Cardiff though all the ends were tied up so i'm not sure what else there was to say?0

Up to now it has not been possible for Nat West customers in Scotland or RBS customers in England to get tickets.
Personally I think people should complain as that is the way to get it changed.
This is incorrect. The events are interchangeable. NatWest customers can use the RBS events in Scotland and RBS can use the NatWest ones in England.
From the t/c:NatWest and RBS are part of RBS Group. As well as the NatWest Film First preview screenings taking place in England and Wales, there will also be RBS Film First preview screenings taking place in Scotland.
As a NatWest customer in Scotland, you can access RBS Film Previews as long as you present a valid ticket and NatWest debit card that can be verified at the cinema on the event evening.
I'm an RBS customer and use the Natwest screenings :T0 -

geordie ben - was gonna ask inlaws to get me one, but they always make such a palaver about it, if it was too early am (cos I have an hours drive to do to get to them and nearest cinema) would be too much like hard work and would not bother asking - hence the question.0

Be there 10am for 10.30am start, usually start straight away no adverts.0

The information I posted was correct up to the last screening as Nat West customers in Scotland weren't able to book for the screenings there . I'm glad to see that this has now changed.0 -

To be honest, I thought the quiet, 'calm', beginning, middle and end of the film excellently portrayed the fact that MEGA events which impact on the vast majority of the world doesn't have to occur like some "Independence Day" fireworks display.
While we all slept, someone opened the flood gates.
By the time even those within the industry had 'woken up' to what had happened, it was already too late.
What I found very telling was the fact that every one of them around the table at 2am in the morning (Moore, Spacey, Irons, Bettany etc) knew what their actions would lead to......
Their faces, the silence, the ashen expressions I found far more powerful than histrionics and screaming matches.
The funny but sick fact that most of them didn't even understand what on earth they were doing..... and this was at board level !!!
"Speak to me like a small child or a golden retriever..." said Irons
No one appeared to have ANY financial or economic qualification/knowledge. The excuse being "its just numbers"
Yet despite all their reservations, their horror, taking action which was a total anathama to the way they had conducted business for decades, when million dollar cheques were waved...... they all did exactly what was asked of them....
Spacey brilliantly built a character who at the end we felt some sympathy for, but when you actually analysed what he did.....he was a culpable as the rest. He could cry for his pet, but didn't bat an eyelid when colleagues where fired.
They were ALL prepared to sell their family and friends down the river, for another cheque.
Bettany (and presume the rest) were phoning 'friends' around the world to sell them the a mulit-million dollar 'bargain of a lifetime' - knowing full well they were to all intent completely worthless....
I found the film excellent and very thought provoking.... the tension was so acute for whole portions of the film that I actually expected someone to be bumped off.
Definitely a 9 out of 10 from me - and dd thoroughly enjoyed it as well, and managed to follow the whole storyline, which I had feared may have gone over her head, but not so.
Excellent start to 2012.... and War horse on Sunday;)0
