And there was me thinking that Snowy rocked in Tintin but the dog in The Artist was fantastic.

Wonderful, funny, stylish, emotional and completely charming. It's no wonder that The Artist is already winning award. Truly well deserved. :T

I'm hoping that Uggie the dog will do some publicity appearances to promote the film

BTW Uggie the dog was also the dog in Water for Elephants :j:T
  • Must be a generation thing :)
  • Absolutely adored The Artist - a really enjoyable film. Nice to see something intelligent and thought-provoking for once.

One little complaint - the amount of people that walked out after 10 mins was unbelievable. If you don't want to watch a silent movie, don't book tickets for one. Heard one horrific woman and her family moaning that they had been 'ripped off', and that they would be complaining. Apparantly they didn't want to watch 'some old toss'.

Agree entirely. Superb film is not something I use often but this deserves it. Acting was of a standard not often seen IMO. Nearly had me in tears at times towards the end.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

But what if you're like me? I never ever read reviews etc before hand, so walk into all of these movies totally blind and have no idea what they're about

I like the surprise, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I've only walked out on one movie, and one sky program

<bangs head on wall> I don't read up on previews or any films before I go but I have an idea about it before I go. Even if it is just a quick glimpse at the blurb on the booking page.

It was quite clearly NOT an old film. I must admit that I expected some walk outs but there weren't any although I don;'t think everyone got it. How on earth is one ripped off when the film is free? :rotfl:

Not wishing to spoil it for anyone yet to see it. I take it that you did cry at one scene involving the dog? I wept buckets.
  • Apologies if this is the wrong thread, but I've jsut cancelled two tickets for Treasure Island in Edinburgh this week.

  • just back from watching 'The Artist'.. i thought it was a truly delightful film. there were a couple of LOL moments that threw my dear ol mum into a fit of the giggles, and i think she enjoyed it more than me as it brought back memories from her own childhood. the theatre was 100% full and noboby left during the 100mins. we would both recommend this movie, allthough i personally wouldnt buy it on dvd as i think it needs the big screen to appreciate the masterpiece that it is.
