In an ideal world, I would be taller, thinner, prettier, with £10 million in the bank, an E-type Jag and Johnny Depp on tap. Surprise!! It isn't going to happen!
Sorry to disappoint, you can have everything but Johnny, if Vanessa ever gives him up, he's mineeeeeeee:rotfl:!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

So who exactly were you blaming here?thefrenzexperiment wrote: »Yes, I've been at a couple of showings which have only been around that full but where people on here have said they were turned away. Very strange.
It might be related to people leaving random single empty seats and then sitting there like selfish idiots not moving up for people who arrive later. It seems obvious to me that when seats are short everyone should shift up to allow the maximum number of people in but it seems a lot of people don't get that these days....
and who are you slagging off here?thefrenzexperiment wrote: »The point was that people HAVE been turned away from such screenings .... People were also turned away from Gnomeo and Juliet in Mansfield a while back when there were dozens of seats left.
And while some cinema staff do do what you describe, many don't, and therefore it is left to the goodwill of people attending, and when you're dealing with people who have the selfish attitude of the two posters on the previous page, then there will be problems fitting everyone in.
You are saying that people are being turned away despite the room not being full...... because people in the screening have left gaps.
And the fact they leave gaps makes them selfish.
Where as groups of 4 or more who arrive later and refuse to split up, and tell staff the room is full, are not selfish.
So a family of 4 arrive 10 minutes before the start, and there are plenty of spaces scattered around, but not 4 together.
You think it is selfish for people on at least 4 rows not to rearrange themselves, move seats, move rows, split up from their own partner or group etc so as to create a group of 4 seats together on one row (and presumably they want them to be on the aisle as well) so this family can sit together?
I arrived with dd at Captain America at least 20 minutes before it started.... and still could not sit together.
Did I complain or call people selfish?
No, I was grateful for the seat I did find ( farthest along so everyone in the row had to get up to let me past) and grateful to Sky for giving me the ticket in the first place.
That is the way I was raised, not to be selfish and make unreasonable demands on other people, and to be grateful when things are offered me - be that a free cinema ticket, or a seat.:cool:0 -

How can you be 'thinking of others first' when you expect the old or infirm to shift out of their seat, to move seat and even move row for your or someone elses desire to sit together?
You certainly have a different interpretation to me of "thinking of others" in that case.0
