Unbelievably selfish and typical of modern ignorance to be honest. For a start we're not talking about people arriving LATE, we're talking about people who often arrive in perfectly good time!! I've been at plenty of showings where there have only been pairs or singles seats left a good twenty minutes before the showing (Captain America last week and 8mm this week being just two examples) - are you saying that if a family of four arrives, perhaps with young children, then they should be split up rather than you or your ilk getting off your selfish !!!!!! and moving up to utilise your "special" space you left so you don't have to be too close to anyone else??? Pathetic.

I'm utterly gobsmacked by that attitude.

You went to a recent screening of 8mm? Surely you mean Super 8????

On rereading your comments in this post in particular. You come across as extremely rude, arrogant and downright nasty. I would hate to be sitting by you. I can just imagine you making similar comments whilst waiting for the film to start.
  • Slight Spoiler Alert for Super8

After coming out of Super8 I just had to ask my hubby,"Why was it called Super8? There were only 6 kids so it couldn't have been that, do you think it was the creature?"

When he stopped laughing enough to explain it was the type of film used by the kids, I wondered if I had just made the most stupid comment of the year so far!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but that really made me laugh out loud.

I would like to say that it is the innocence of youth no matter what age you are lol

I also suggest you read posts properly, can you please demonstrate where I mentioned anything about people being 'LATE'?

Er, here...."If people turn up late then they should take whatever seats are left. If they want seats together they should make the effort to get there in good time."

I'll sit anywhere available and suffer mild discomfort rather than being rude and expecting people to move. Anyway feel free to continue making assumptions about me and being thoroughly offensive.

And again, nobody said anything about EXPECTING or BEING RUDE - manners and consideration for others as I said before will only ever be a vain hope where some people are concerned...
  • I also do not understand why you blame those peeps who did get in the cinema for the fact that staff turn others away

I think there are some crossed wires here? Nobody ever blamed those people for anyone being turned away.

But why should I have to move from the seats I want just to let some family in who cant be bothered to turn up at a decent time to get the seats they want?

Plain and simple. If you want decent seats, or want to sit with your family/friends etc, then get there with decent time to spare.

Stop being rude, turning up just before the movie starts and expecting people to move to accommodate you.

N.B. The 'You' above is not pointed at anyone in general

Once again, since you obviously missed it before, we are NOT talking about people who are LATE (who I agree deserve no particular consideration) but people who have turned up in plenty of time but are unable to sit together due to people leaving odd seats for no good reason.

Obviously in quiet showings there is no problem with leaving gaps, but in full (and sometimes oversubscribed showings) this is clearly not possible.

Perhaps if you arrive for something and there's a long queue in front of you you also expect the people at the front to move out of the way for you and if they won't, accuse them of being 'unbelievably selfish and typical of modern ignorance'.

Well no actually, partly because I always arrive in plenty of time, but also because it's utterly irrelevant to the discussion point, which is accommodating as many people in the cinema in the best way possible that is satisfactory to as many people as possible.

Well I guess we just have very different ideas about what constitutes manners and consideration. It's all to do with upbringing I guess.

And yes, you're right - if I saw some selfish idiot who refused to move a seat or two along to accommodate a family who had arrived in perfectly good time, damn right I'd say something!!

This is the second time you've intimated that you've had a superior upbringing. My parents brought me up far better than what I can see around me nowadays and that includes your arrogance.

Life and the people in it aren't perfect, get used to it. It doesn't give you the right to verbally attack anyone on here who don't agree with your views. That doesn't smack of good upbringing or consideration. Just plain old fashioned rudeness running throughout the relevant posts.

In an ideal world, I would be taller, thinner, prettier, with £10 million in the bank, an E-type Jag and Johnny Depp on tap. Surprise!! It isn't going to happen!

In an ideal cinema world, I want the two seats in front of me empty, the seats either side empty unless occupied by friends and even then I have second thoughts lol (joke), nobody sitting behind me kicking my seat. Nobody talking throughout the film as happened during Captain America when a father and his male brat talked loudly regardless of my dirty looks and comments and nobody using their mobile phone!

Sometimes, some of that happens, sometimes it doesn't. I put up with it. Why don't you give it a go too. After all this is a free preview, you aren't there to organise the cinema unless you work there and if you don't why not get a job in a cinema so you can put into practice all your wants and demands.

Failing that, give it a rest, you've made it very clear what you think the rest of us lesser mortals should be doing in clear and nasty tones. What could have been a frank and interesting discussion turned nasty long ago. You really are an insufferable pompous person. And from what you've said in earlier posts, I truly don't know why you bother with this thread after all you subscribe to everything going and buy every publication on the planet. I pity the O Zone layer with all the trees that you are responsible for being cut down just to provide you with a newspaper you don't need or want! Unreasonable comments? Yes, true. But your arrogance and rudeness justify it.:(
