They are both under 12, but I will be there, it's just the tickets are for 2. My partner and I have both got screening tickets, it's really to know if I can use one for 2 and my kids use the other one - has anyone ever done this with a 12A film?

Yes, that's absolutely fine - as long as you are accompanying the children in a parent/carer capacity, any age child can see a 12A.

On edit: although you may need to get the name on the ticket changed if it has your partner's name on it, by emailing showfilmfirst or whoever's running the preview. Having said that, they hardly ever (never in my almost ten years of going to previews) ask for ID...

12a is like a PG in the sense that a parent or guardian needs to be there with children under the age of 12 as it is up to the adult to decide whether the film is suitable for those children.

If it was 12 rated film then as long as both were 12 years or older then they could go themselves.

There's no been no such thing as a 12 rating in cinemas since 2002! It's a home DVD etc. certificate only now.

And any age can see a PG - no parent of guardian needs to be there.

Don't get too complacent! I hardly ever got asked and so was surprised when I did a few times, each time with my ID buried deep at the bottom of my bag! :rotfl:

Yes, just to clarify, so there is no confusion .. as thefrenze points out ...

12 does not exist at the cinema any more

12A means OVER 12 ONLY - UNLESS WITH an ADULT (who in their judgement deems it suitable for UNDER 12)

PG - ANY AGE WITHOUT ADULT company - Recommendation is it's OK for OVER 8s (Parental Guidance decision for UNDER 8s and "sensitive" children)
