I dont think it answers the question really...

What we need to know is, is it ok to ask on here if anyone has spare tickets?

i always thought it wasnt, the reason being a board guide posted something a while ago stating it was against the rules.

Sorry doing a million and one things here. Yes you are correct, it is against the rules to ask if anybody has any spare tickets. People can ask however if anybody has returned tickets to seefilmfirst as that wouldn't require exchanging any personal details.

    Hi Tibbs

Oops I didn't mean to click thanks to ex-homelessdude's post yesterday, I wasn't aware that I did. I'm using mobile Internet on my iPhone so blame my fat fingers :D

To clarify it'd ok to post here saying that you are returning tickets to seefilmfirst etc so people are made aware that tickets may be available again. What's not allowed is people sending on tickets they have through email as that would breach the exchanging personal details rule ie email addresses.

I hope that this clarifies what I was trying to say. :) any other questions feel free to ask :)

ETA: sometimes it's very hard to determine if a user is requesting tickets be sent to them rather than asking has anybody returned tickets.

    Thanks for your explanation.

As long as the poster adds a disclaimer that they do not intend to contravene in any way the MSE rules, and to fully explain their intentions, such as a request for someone to PM them if they are just about to return tickets and for someone else to possibly pick them up at the other end.

If just left for people to say that they had returned tickets in a post, there would be a slim chance of anyone on MSE getting the tickets. Whereas, if the request was made for a PM of intent to return the tickets at a time convenient for the OP, then this would increase the chances of the poster picking up the tickets at their end - again, no absolute guarantee, but an increased chance all the same.

Perhaps careful wording of future posts is required.

    Thanks for confirmation.

I must've posted my post at the same time you posted your last post.

I was trying to carefully word it - lol.

    Thanks for this Lorweld

And Tibbs, I'll await my apology - I do not think I am a board guide, or forum police or anything of the sort. I simply repeated what I have read in a previous post by a board guide.

I would suggest that if people are wanting tickets they keep checking the codes from the code board, or as a last attempt post on a message on here saying something along the lines of..

"If anyone is returning tickets for X movie at Y time at Z cinema then please PM me beforehand so I can log onto SFF and try and get them"

To anyone trying to get tickets in this way, please remember we are not the only site to post codes, and no doubt you're not the only person trying to get tickets either, so your chances are very slim

    Good luck tho :)

Again, I'll repeat. You had no way of knowing ex-homelessdude's intentions. He/she could've just wanted to check if someone was going to return tickets. Now that other members of MSE have been made aware that they are now going to have to carefully word their posts in order for you not to misinterpret their intentions, then there will be less ambiguity for you to worry about.

If you feel other posters are in the wrong, which it is obvious that you have a grievance with many, many posters on this board - with the amount of posts you claim that they are in the wrong. Perhaps if you feel they are in the wrong, then perhaps you should go through official channels rather than acting as a self-appointed board guide.

    Just a suggestion.

acting as a self-appointed board guide

Again, no I dont, I have simply repeated what a board guide has said.
You had no way of knowing ex-homelessdude's intentions.

Did they ask if anyone had spare tickets? YES. Is doing this against the rules? YES!

    I have a question

Why is it against the rule to exchange email addresses? Home addresses etc. I can understand, but email?

    Genuine question.
