Just wanted to say hi and well done for posting Janey51. As long as you talk through your problems and don't bottle them up you can get through most things, it's not moaning, it's therapy.

It sounds like you are doing everything that it is in your power to do, well done! I'm afraid I haven't got any other practical advice though. :grouphug:"Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Livingston went for Phoebe, Fergal got into a scrap outside AND... cane into to living room to find my beautiful lamp in two pieces(VERY UPSET) AND...my best cup(my cow cup) without its handle(and handle in at least 4 pieces-have found 3 up to now ) BOO HOO Anyone want to have a cat(or discounts for bulk!!!!!) Only joking i think!!!!!Sorry for hijacking your thread. Annie(ARRRGGGGHHH)
Sorry to laugh at your misfortune but I came on here extremely stressed (about my mum's situation) and near to tears, and you've just made me laugh out loud. My cat threw up all over our bed this morning, very nice. The problem is that he's diabetic and when he's sick he's at risk becoming unstable and going into a coma. My vet's told me to go and buy some liquid glucose just incase. It's official....mums and cats drive us mad but we love them both.
Hope things are ok for you today Janey. Keep offloading on here if it helps. No one thinks you're moaning. Good luck xxJanuary budget

Hugs to you Janey!
My mum had a similar problem with my grandad, he'd buy anything if it came through the letterbox, he always used to ring me and ask if I'd pop in to see him as he had a present for me and when I got there I'd be presented with a pile of junk that he'd bought from the latest catalogue, he once spent £36 on 12 mini (and I mean mini!!) bottles of nail varnish which were cheap and nasty! The amount of fleeces, cutlery, sewing kits, videos that nobody had even heard of, scarves, cheap watches and other bad quality items amazed me!
My mum got power of attorney when he had a stroke and now looks after his money and goes through his post before he can get to them, he's in hospital again at the moment and the other day she took him a magazine, as he opened one of those scratchcard things fell out, of course he scratched it and 'won' and then asked for money so he could phone them and claim his 'prize' my mum said she'd phone them when she got home, obviously she didn't and he's forgotten about it now but if he'd been at home then his phone bill would've been sky high!!
It's a shame that the elderly can be so gullible, I hope that you can get through to your mum and you don't get too stressed about it, parents are stubborn and of course they always know best!!!:rolleyes:Kate

Thought you might be interested to know that I have now applied for Power of Attorney for my Mum. She fell and ended up in hospital for 3 weeks. My sister has decided to emigrate so I will be responsible for looking after Mum.
I think QVC's shares will have plummeted while she was in hospital
Latest purchases: A 3 million candle power torch, the world's supply of lockable plastic boxes and solar lights for the garden (about 3 foot square). Not to mention dozens of bits of jewellery...diamonique of course.

You're certainly no moaning minnie...just one very strong and determined woman who'se battling all the way....keep going, cos I suspect you'll win the "war"!

Doesn't sound as if you'll end up like your mum.
Thanks for update and good luck for the future.
