Really, and your proof of that is where exactly?
A statement by HMRC in January 2010 part of the Tax Health Plan.
quote "Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) netted £9 million from this year's 'tax amnesty' where medical professionals were encouraged to declare unpaid tax.
I'm suprised at you people. Too busy thanking each other and patting yourselves on the back to use google?0 -
Can some one please point out where Martin said 'Screw the big companies before they screw you'?'Cheating Ebay' - do you work for Ebay!?? Is this for real? This is a moneysaving site. Remember what Martin says this site is about, 'It's about screwing big companies before they screw you'.
That's not what I thought MSE was about. I am not here to lie and cheat to make money. If you want to avoid ebay fees then you need to find other ways in my opinion. hiking up postage means people vote with their feet. It is up to the individual to decide what they want to do but some people dont feel it is morally acceptable to avoid fees by over hiking the p&p. I am one of those people and that is my opinion.
no I don't work for ebay.House saving Targets:

Who has lied? All these people are doing is telling you that as buyers they are on the opposite side of the fence. They look at the overall price of an item and pay happily. And that they don't want to join the snitch and snipe brigade.
The suggestion form the stalwarts is that a seller who inflates postage, a very subjective area, is equally as likely to treat customers in a dodgy fashion. That's the same as believing anyone who speeds in their car is likely to mug you in the street. No respect for the law.
If you all want to be boy scouts, go ahead. Just don't go in to realms of fantasy as justification.0 -
I love buying from people with inflated postal prices because you are more likely to get a bargain. Why on earth would I be bothered if ebay don't get as much money from it. I've never had a bad experience from these sellers.
As a seller myself I now sell at free post because I don't want to get low dsrs, because I think alot of buyers don't think like me as regards postal charges.
I pay more fees than those who charge high postage charges, but I'm not jealous of them, I think they take a risk because some small minded sellers will mark them down, I pay more not to take that risk.0 -

There's always a new generation of kids on the block who believe there's an easy way of fleecing money out of unsuspecting souls.
To build a sustainable business in the longer term requires repeat customer purchasing. Short term gain is rarely worthwhile.0 -
You completely missed my point. The post was about fee avoidance, not "fleecing" the unsuspecting.
Same cost to the buyer, just higher postage to avoid the ebay fee.
Repeat customers are not the only way to have a sustainable business. Selling high end goods, built to last a few years, is one area where there are few repeats.0 -
Getting abck to original post - I always check postage fees before bidding and if you think they are too much - JUST DON'T BID!
There will nearly always be someone else selling the item.
Not much point bidding and buying and then griping about it.
If the postage is not laid out in black and white I jsut avoid the seller.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

Even if the item is rare, you should have at least some idea of the true postage cost. If you see a seller ripping buyers off with inflated postage, avoid them! The chances are, if they're dodgy when it comes to postage, they're likely to be dodgy when it comes to
all other aspects of trading.
But if you are determined to have a particular item, even though the postage is clearly OTT, that's entirely your choice."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

Groucho Marx0 -
You seem to be arguing with yourself there. If you buy on lowest price including postage, even if the postage is high presumably that would be the one you would buy?
What other aspects of trading would a seller quoting high postage be dodgy on? Sending a tea cosy instead of a designer jumper? A kettle instead of a laptop? How would this mythical seller get away with anything dodgy toward a buyer with the current rules?0 -
I sold an item recently and looked at what other people selling were charging for P&P - £6.50 - so I used that. This was late night when I was listing and had listed so many things by this time I was fed up with ebay... (lazy me I admit)
anyway the item sold and I got out my scales to check the postage..turns out sending it via the method specified (recorded) would cost only £2.50...so I sent it special deliv. I figured they had paid for the postage so would rather receive it via a different means than me making lots of postage profit. Not sure what the other dudes are doing, weaving their own packaging out of gold leaf?0
