Ok they should both work ? These two IP addresses are both on the wireless adapter section or is one for ethernet adapter?

this is when i plug the wireless router into the PC and type int he default gateway its 198.162.1.1 or something then i have a password

and proceed to the options and all that tools, advanced

I think you misunderstood me , the 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.2
in the ipconfig output are they both on the wireless lan section or is one in the ethernet section? I probably didn't explain too well

they are the output when i run cmd and ipconfig

ive got 5 slots at the back but they aren't in use as the 2 comps they are connected via wireless

OK on the Vista one go to Control, Panel/Network and Sharing and select Manage wireless , and try and connect to your router.
I will fire up my XP box, an't remember wot the settings are on that 5 mins.....
