Michelin vs bridgestone
I used to put Michelin primacy Hp for my car all these years, but I've got good price for bridgestone about 20 quid cheaper per tyre than michellin n the garage guy says it's on par with michellin, is that credible pls share your opinion.
Here's the prices - mondeo
Michellin primacy Hp £89.99
Bridgestone £69.99
This includes fitting charge

I find the Primacys wear rate is awesome... Had them on a few cars and have been 100% impressed... One of mine at the moment is Primacy front and Bridgestone rear and it'll be all Primacys next time round.
Also I highly rate BF Goodrich profilers... Closest thing I've found to the Primacys wear rate without the Primacy price.0 -
Take a look at Avon ZV3 or perhaps ZV5, they'll work out around half the price, they have better grip, wear slightly quicker as a result.... You'll get through 1.5 tyre's for every Bridgestone/Michelin, if that gives you an idea.... BUT for the price you really won't care about the wear rate.
They're also extremely resistant to kerbing as the tread pattern extends further around the shoulder of the tyre.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My experience over many years.
Michelins = good for lifespan, poor for grip.
I've driven Mazdas for a while now (OE = Bridgestones). The grip is good but the lifespan is modest.

I had Bridgestones on my WRX, can't remember the model, but they were OK.
I had a less exotic Bridgstone tyre on my Legacy, wore well, grip in the wet was poor, a direct comparison with a full set of Toyo Proxes T1r and then a set of Toyo Proxes T1s tyres, meant that I wouldn't have the middle of the range Bridgestones on any car I own ever again.
Michelin Primacy, have used these in all conditions, including heavy snow, ice, rain and dry conditions. Driving in emergency conditions where all I am interested is grip, and I would recommend them, they also wear well.
If you really can't afford the £20 then the bridgestones will be acceptable, but I would spend the extra every time.
If you want to save a few quid then think about the Michelin Energy tyres, not the outright grip of the Primacy, but you still get the good wear rate and they still grip better than the Goodyear NCT or Goodyear Excellence. Also a fairly quiet tyre and gave a decent ride quality.
I personally always have Toyos Proxes, mainly due to them being about half the price of Michelins, they don't wear aswell, are a bit noisier but offer good value, and I like the levels of grip avaiable in the wet.0 -
The best tyres I ever had were Bridgestone S02's, I tried the S03's when they went out of production but they weren't as good. They also had some kind of curb protector on the outside wall, an extra thick rubber ridge.I now have Toyo T1-S on(boght them before they stopped making them) and although they don't have the same outright grip as the Bridgestones they are more progressive and you can feel it start to slide gradually rather than just snapping away.
Toyos are a very good tyre for the money and although they won't last as long as Bridgestone/Michelin you can get a good deal on them-I got 4 of 215x45x15(very awkard and expensive size usually) for about £140 delivered once and you can generally get a decent discount off the rest of the range.0 -
I work for one of the companies involved and see on a daily basis the amount of skill that goes into making the tyre, making it last longer, save fuel, still run straight on the road etc, and without telling you exactly what job I do, I'm sure I know more about the tyres than the guy selling them in the garage does. I'm not on any bonus for selling a particular brand this month.
As one of those companies doesn't have any factories in the UK (afaik) you'll be able to work out where I work pretty easily
I know which one I would go for, and being MSE I know I'd look for money off...

I drive a Mondeo too, run on Primacy, never had a moment's bother with them.
Have you thought about buying Klebers or BF Goodrich , they are part of the Michelin range - if you can't afford the Primacys but have been happy with them, then I'd look into these.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Spend the extra money.
On some cars Bridgestone and Goodyear can be very noisey.
I live in the North West so the only thing that matters is braking distance not cornering grip.0 -
I have Bridgestone Potenzas on my car and wouldn't recommend them. They are noisy and the grip in the wet isn't great. Im going to go for Goodyear Asymmetrics next time.0
