Any mattress recommendations?

The one we currently have is knackered! Only had it 4 years and the springs are done for. I fancy a foam one but can't afford much - ideally looking to spend around £300 possibly £400 but no more. I know you spend a long time in bed but I really can't afford more than that.

Any recs of musts haves? Am not keen on Silent Night but other than that, open to ideas.

I presume by the fact that you aren't keep on Silentnight that your current one is a SN? If so don't be put off sprung mattresses by your SN, as it is the brand and the type of springs they use that is most likely the problem, and not sprung mattresses in general.

Foam only mattresses don't give much ventilation, and can be very hot and sweaty.

Stick with independent manufacturers, and stay away from big chain stores, and buy on line if you want good quality at a low price.

Thanks Tim. Yes current one is SN. Mattressman looks really good, good prices and next day delivery. Will have a brose and see what I think.

Don't be taken in by next day delivery. You have a mattress for a long time, so you shouldn't rush it. Mattressman are far cheaper than the big chain stores, but they aren't the cheapest by a long shot. And they don't have a returns policy that allows you to unpack and sleep on the mattress.

I need to buy a replacement mattress for my 10 year old daughter,as her previous 2 from Argos have been faulty and their springs have virtually come through after only 3 weeks each!! Argos are giving me a refund but i only have a max of £85 to spend on a new one. Her new bedstead is a Sydney metal framed bed with metal strutts.
I have been looking at a few on the Argos website,the Airprung Cheshire/Luxfirm/Pi Ortho and also the Layazee Essence but i just don't know? Help!!

husband ordered a memory foam mattress without much consultation. He has back problems sometimes and thought this would help. He likes the mattress, and I have gone from hating it initially to just putting up with it.
Anyone thinking of a memory foam- try it first. It definitely needs getting used to though.

Stay well away from Argos, they don't sell decent quality mattresses.

There are some very poor design memory foam mattresses on the market, but there are also some excellent ones. You have to be careful which you go for.

The reviews of a lot of mattresses on Argos don't really support your statement. Are all the reviews and mattresses just a load of crud?
