Hi Mimi remember you from old Boots thread xxx
Best thing to do is contact Consumer Direct as lots of people have done, they are passing it over to Trading Standards.

Hey chick. Hope you are OK. Nice to hear from you honey.

I shall not take my ink cartridges back then. I shall do what everyone else is doing. Woohoo.

    I suggest everybody gets onto Conumer Direct 08454 04 05 06.

They told me that Tesco do not have a leg to stand on: they made an offer to treat and entered into a binding contract by accepting payment and delivering the goods. They cannot subsequently change the terms/ inducements (ie Clubcard points on offer).

Please phone them yourself - takes 5 minutes. They will automatically contact Trading Standards whose job it is to stop shady practices such as this.

I would agree with what you are saying, but in case you need to write a formal complaint you do need to check your terminology.

The advertisement was an invitation to treat.

The buyer made an offer to buy the inks.

The retailer accepted the offer upon dispatch.

I would also agree that the legal concept of mistake is not relevant here. As they have had previous promotions where you could buy a mobile for £10 and receive 500 points, there is absolutely nothing that would make the buyer aware that there was an obvious error. Also, Tesco had ample opportunity to check their advertisement before sending out orders.

Try putting 'tesco hp ink points clubcard' into Google and you'll see that Tesco were still advertising 500 points for each ink 20 hours ago (say, 8pm Tuesday). Though the page now comes up blank of the offer, the search reveals what used to be there 20 hours ago.

Does anybody know that useful function where you can go back in time and view web pages before they were edited?

Last year they had an offer in stores for 1000 pts with mobiles 1 cost £14.97 and these were not a mistake and points were added. So the consumer would not be aware this was not a geniune promo as some of these inks are infact more costly than this. I think your advice dmg24 is worth following just frustrating we have to have these battles.

I have always thought that Tesco deliberately make things difficult to get these extra points and that most people just cant be bothered to go through all the hassel. So they win again.

The only time I have had a problem before is with the pre order CDs (again offering 500 points for something less than £10 - all good evidence that there was not a mistake!). They kept changing the terms and conditions of the offer. A few emails and the problem was sorted.

sirbrainy, you are thinking of Google Cache or the Wayback Machine. They are both pretty hit and miss. I'll see what I can find.

Excellent! Will that particular website 'capture' disappear in time or should we make a screenshot of it (which I don't know how to do lol)?
