I'm a long time lurker of this thread so thought I better say something!

I've made TONS of items for craft fairs, only to find no where will accept me this late. Actually, one place will but the stall is £95 and can't have jewellery, which is most of my stock. So with my thinking cap on and having spent lots of money on materials, I decided to do bootsales. I also run a jewellery website so I've priced up my items to more than half the price on the site and set off on Saturday morning and sold.......

1 Yappy Christmas dog treats!!! Seriously. One thing.

I had a much better boot sale planned for today, but we'd have to leave at 5.30. It's more the demographic that would be interested in these products (yesterday was mostly farmers lol) and as you can see it is 3.30am. The problem? I'm stuck babysitting! I was told it would be until 10pm and I'm still waiting for the parent to return home. I live an hour away so they've got 1 hour to get home or I won't be able to do the stall and I won't make any money. Needless to say I am fuming right now  I really need that money and the weather forecasts for the next few weeks suggest this will be my only chance.

OMG that's terrible . Hope they got back in time for you to go. I don't think i'd be babysitting again. Cheeky beggars . If they didn't get back tell them they cost you money and ask them to pay that'll get em .

  • Thank you Flying Pig for the gingham papers and pointofnoreturn forexplaining about Folksy!
  • I've got another stall to do on Saturday, just setting up a table at a leisure centre so not expecting to sell much there. I'm not going to make up anymore things apart from maybe some notepads and pens and reindeers as I don't want to get left with loads. I'm quite happy with the money I made yesterday so anymore now will be a bonus.

I'm busy making sock monkeys this week for some orders I have so will concentrate on those.

My candy givaway on my homepage is about to end so if you want to enter please do so as I will be picking a winner shortly.

well I did my craft fair today and sold . . . . £17.50 worth of goods :( not the greatest result, especially as the stall cost me £12.50.

    This consisted of:
    2 reindeer flannels (took 3)
5 packs christmas tree decs (all I had)
    1 pair earrings
    1 table centrepiece

Feeling totally disheartened now, got another one next week thats cost me £5 which is in a much more 'money' area so might do better there, but on a whole not a good day

Sorry to hear you were disappointed. It's so hit and miss. The fair I did yesterday was one I booked at the last minute and really didn't think I would do well but it was packed with people and well organised and I sold loads. I did one last year that was longer and more expensive but although I made a good enough amount it was nowhere near what I got yesterday. Hopefully - the next fair that you do will be a great one for you. I have a stall on Saturday at the Leisure Centre but don't intend to make many more items for it as I had too much really for my stall yesterday and I'd like to try to get more of my jewellery out on display as well as some sock creations. I had some other non crafted things as well which sold pretty well so may take more of those on Saturday.

At least you didn't lose money and covered the cost of your stall. Maybe don't take so much of one thing. I found people don't want to spend more than about £4 on one item and apart from my sock creations and some of the jewellery, I made sure my things were not priced over that.

Don't feel too disheartened, the next one may make up for this one especially as the stall is much cheaper.

  • oh i need help i can not find the fairy mikeshake the pinks one plus my printer has died i wanted to print the poems off oh i want to cry! craft fair is on friday making money hope fully for school ooh im off to eat chocolate
  • Hi everyone,

Did the school fair yesterday and in 3 hours sold:

    Pint of Socks x3
    Sock Cupcakes x3
    Bah Humbug Boxes x4
    Christmas Wishes x5
    Reindeer noses x5
    Snowman Soup x2
    Reindeer Poop x1
    Snowballs x1
    Magnetic Pegs x3
    Notebook/ Calendars x3
    Magic reindeer Food x4

This was my first fair, and I was not too sure on the pricing, and was really worried that no one would buy anything. I told the family that anything left would be in their Christmas stockings!:rotfl:

Still have plenty of stock left, so am hoping to do another local school fair next Saturday - not sure that my DS's would appreciate sock cupcakes.

  • hi all, i have just made 3 pints as a last minute thing (as i hear they are going well) we got our fair on thursday and was wondering if anyone can suggest what i can put on them for a tag? i have looked at the poem on here but its too long as i have not got a printer and would have to write it out by hand. does anyone know of a few lines i can write? or shall i just put pint of socks?

i might make some dog biscuits too if i have time as they seem to sell well too.

i am making a cookie christmas tree for the fair too (if it looks good enough, otherwise it will be for us lol) and i have lots of cakes to do too.
btw its great hearing about your fairs good and bad. i think it is hugely down to the cold and snow (if you have it) i love going out to christmas fairs (to buy) but would be put off by the weather
