However I am after some pointers with die cutters. I have googled them so now sort of know what you are talking about but am still pretty confused as to how they work. Do you buy a machine and then but different plates or something for the different designs or do you design things yourself and then programme them??

    Thank you!

Yes you need a machine and different plates ie the big shot machine and the die (plates with shape or letter on it) it can work out quite expensive to start with but I wouldn't be without mine now.
You can buy a lot of pre cut die shapes on ebay, but they can get costly if you are after just a one of thing its not to bad.
If you are looking for a specific thing (shape letters etc) then if I have them I dont mind cutting a few for you.

If you want to do the bags but don't have a die cutter how about simply folding the topper in half much like a table planner/name plate. Buy a corner rouner, you can get them for around £2 & round the edges. This'll make them look a little more designed but without breaking the bank (die cutting WILL do that to you for sure!)

  • Everyone seemed to be making these last year - peg fridge magnets - bag of pegs cost about £1 + self adhesive ribbons from most craft shops, assorted designs about £1.99 - and various little embellishments - and a bit of magnetic tape on the back (Hobbycraft) not sure of the price

:eek:I would love a sewing machine, and I was looking at those ones from Hobbycraft as I know I would only do little bits and pieces so one of those big expensive ones would be wasted on me. You'll have to let me know if its any good as i'm thinking of asking OH to get it me for Christmas :D

Thank you! Makes lots of sense, any particular chocolate?
These will do nicely for the men in the family who are children!!!
    Couldn't be simpler.

I got cream coloured plastic spoons and made the holly pattern using Sharpies pens - because they are sort of permenant and will write on plastic (buy packs from The Works etc and cheaper shops as they are expensive in WHSmith etc)

Any sort of plactic spoon will do though - this year I am using silver ones.

Melt chocolate and spoon a small amount into the bowl of the spoon.

The white chocolate stars are from Morrisons - sprinkle a few on the melted chocolate so that they stick on to it.

    Leave to dry/set

When dry/set put in cello bag, add ribbon and tag.

    Hope that makes sense
