  • Motability are a HUGE business; it started off as soley a way to enhance the lives of people who needed the assistance and whilst they still offer that, don't be fooled - they are raking it in on a monumental scale!

When all said and done they are a vehicle leasing company who take on no (or very little) financial risk as all their monthly rental payments come from the DLA. They don't have to worry about whether or not their customers are going to pay each month.

The prices of the car does obviously depend on how much the car will be worth at the end of the agreement (know as the RV: Residual Value) but vehicle manufacturers use Motability as a way to boost their sales figures.

Therefore, if a particular manufacturer has had a good quarter they will pull their support for the following quarter's Motability scheme and the prices rises steeply; is common place.

As a rule, the cars you can get for Zero Deposit will be from manufacturers wanting to get more cars on the road.

    All the best

Like a previous post, we decided on a Mondeo only to be told that a test drive would be a waste of time because there were no cars available from Ford!

It looks like a re run of the S Max saga when Motabilty allowed Ford put the 'old' model at an attractive advance payment on the list to shift them out quickly, only to mess people about with non supply.

The facelift Mondeo is already being built but neither Ford or motabilty have got together yet to agree an advance 'deposit'.

We are only SIX DAYS into the last quarter and whoops they've done it again!

For goodness sake get your act together guys.

Life as a carer is stressful enough but organising a Motabilty car is a very close second

    Blimey

And there was me grateful to have an opportunity to be able to drive in comfort at a set price.

I got my Nissan Note last November, automatic, roomy, can put manual wheelchair in the boot and still have leg space in the back.

AP was £200, at the time, and it was the second from the bottom of the range, i could not get the higher ones because them AP was a bit much even though the gadgets would of been useful, had to go get them myself.

I choose my car for comfort, i needed a car with nice firm upright seat that mpv's tend to have but normal cars don't. I struggle to get in and out of the Toyota corolla.

From what i have been told the motability and ford agreed on the new prices over a month ago. At that time they would have some 'old' mondeo in stock. I hope they will copy the same trend as they did with the S-max. They reduced the price to get rid of old stock but when the new S-max came out they kept the old low price. So keep you eye on the list over the next few weeks. According to my dealer the motability will post the price on their website when the new mondeo becomes available.

The wait for new cars just gets longer and longer.

Re the Ford Mondeo's it seems to depend on which model you order and whether you are willing to accept any colour if they are available or not.

My brother ordered his new Mondeo on Motability yesterday. He was told there was a choice of two colours so he opted for a silver one.

    Yes thanks for that Tally.

We seem though to be accepting the status quo here at the moment, if I put items in my shop window that wern't for sale or had restrictions placed on them I would very quickly lose both business and credibilty.

Motabilty is the only shop in town at the moment and back to my comment 'is the tail wagging the dog'.

We originally went for the estate 140 diesel with the auto powershift, their new box is a six speed twin clutch unit without a torque converter so it takes far less power off the engine and the economy is similar to the manual.

For the extra £150 (?) is seemed very good sense for our circumstances.
