do you mean the advance payments? if so then there are perhaps more cars now with nil advance,in fact a ford dealer near us is offering cash back on motability deals as opposed to advance payments.0

Woodbine, yes it is,the cars we have had in the past where people carries, now the advance payments are expensive, last month decent sized cars where nil, we have decided to go with a cruze, nil advance, and is roomy for our family, and with a large boot is it perfect for a wheelchair, other thoughts with nil payments where focus/leon. Thanks.:j0

I haven't looked for a while - my car is due for changing next June. I do remember struggling a bit last time, as I need an automatic, estate, and there was only one at nil deposit, which was a bit of a gas guzzler.
Are motability still giving £200 back if you haven't made an insurance claim? They were when I last changed, and as I was eligible I figured that would be useful towards my advance payment. So I chose a renault with a £250 advance payment, but it actually only cost me £50. Do bear in mind, the £200 came back to me about a month after I had changed the car, so I did have to pay the £250 up front.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
the prices depend on the sale-ability of the car after the 3 years, so as the car market goes up and down so do the advance payments and the weekly payments. The amount you pay to motobility is the depreciation value of the car....so the more the car depriciates the more you will pay.
I'm pretty sure that you can get grants for wheelchair accessible vehicles, and I've had really good experiences with Motobility and find them really helpful so give them a ring and see what they can do to help with the money side of things.0 -

If my partner gave up his job and sat on his backside and claimed benefits, then we would have only to have paid £200 deposit. I need a wheelchair accessible vehicle and the cheapest was 2 weeks ago £11,000 deposit.
I am buying now secondhand from a dealer who has this type of vehicle. He has just got me one registered in dec 2008 with 237 miles on the clock, £13,450 plus adaptations on top. It works out a lot cheaper if you are badly disabled to buy your own secondhand.
I'm glad you have got your car sorted, however, I'm a carer for my disabled husband, and yes I do claim carers allowance but I do not 'sit on my !!!!' I find that comment very insulting. I'm sorry that we depend on benefits, and maybe do get grants that others may not be entitled to but that is no reason to be insulting. I work dam hard to make sure that my husband has a reasonble quality of life.0 -

Had my eyes on several cars. Was unhappy to see a huge hike (in my eyes) in AP, especially the S-max. Still waiting for my award letter before i can order a new car.
Are the prices high in the last quarter of the year? Then comes down in Jan? Was thinking i can probably wait till Jan and see how much the price change. Although we do have the hike in VAT to look forward to.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I think the increase in the S-max is because it is a brand new model just out.
I have been keeping my eyes on the prices recently as my current owned adapted Peugeot 206 is getting pretty old now, also we have our first child on the way, so need something bigger for child and my powerchair - we have had to have the back seat removed in the Pug just for the chair. So, I am looking to go on the scheme for the first time although I did consider buying a new car outright also, but all in I think the scheme wins.
Having had a drive in one, I am seriously looking at the Mondeo 2.0 Zetec Diesel Powershift, both as it is nil deposit on the scheme and it is big enough and economical enough - my boy racer days are over sadly. I think the Mondeos are so cheap due to an updated model coming out soon.
I did look at Golf/Focus/Astra sized cars but even in estate variation it would be difficult getting things in with the chair in the boot.

Yeah I was surprised too. In the summer I checked the advanced payment for a Nissan Qashqai 1.6 petrol, and if remember correctly the AP was nil. I had a look yesterday and its now £799.00
I suppose the increased AP could be down to the fact that the Qashqai has had a face-lift recently.0
