I got the Carpet Cleaning service today ! WATCH OUT for that one.

"Steam Carpet Clean For Two Rooms Plus Stairs or Hallway for £28 with Elite Cleaning Hampshire"

I thought Groupon would do the right thing but apparently not - they should NOT be selling this offer !

This is the one that was on WATCHDOG Rogue Traders, you pay the £28 for the carpet clean and then the company turns up and does a 'test' and says that the steam clean won't do anything as the carpets are too dirty - then they do the whole SALES patter which encourages you to pay for the 'product' which does the cleaning - AT EXTRA COST. Because you've paid £28 already via Groupon, and you've moved all your furniture, and your carpets are no cleaner (so you've paid for nothing), and they're standing in your house, you feel compelled to pay the extra to have something cleaned properly.

    And so it begins.

My wife even knew the SALES pitch having watched WATCHDOG and managed to knock them down but the whole thing still cost £60 - DO NOT BE SUCKED IN BY THIS OFFER !

Used Groupon 4 times to date, so far 3 bad deals, still waiting the 4th deal, due next week. Won't hold my breath.

WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN - CUSTOMER SERVICE WORST EVER

Advice, always use Paypal to buy anything off the internet then you have the choice to dispute the goods etc and get your money back. Joining Paypal is free, you just need a bank account.

It's saved me quite a few quid in disputes with Ebay & Groupon

  • I need help please someone!:) I'm not allowed to post my own thread as I'm new. I bought a folding bike with Groupon (via Uniondealer) and have had several issues. They sent me the wrong colour- green, when I specified black, the box was damaged and so the bike had a scrape on it and also the instructions are in Italian so I have no idea how to set the bike up. I contacted Groupon and they told me that I have to contact Uniondealer to arrange a refund. I don't want to do this as I emailed Uniondealer a couple of weeks ago asking about the weight of the bike and they haven't replied yet. Does anyone know if my buying contract is with Groupon or with Uniondealer? I feel that as I purchased from Groupon they should sort it out. Does anyone know? Please!!
  • My experience with Groupon is less than satisfactory as well.
Bought a canvas print on the 11th September = Still waiting for it, company won't even pick up the phone
Bought Louise Walsh make up brushes on the 12th September = Still waiting for them
Bought a voucher for Goballearning.org an online marketing course, where by the voucher expires today but on trying to use the voucher yesterday it never worked now i can't get hold of Groupon in time before the voucher expires.
Tried phoning them but after an hour listening to terrible music i was cut off. Suffice to say I'm more than a little annoyed.
  • Completely forgot to come back and advise on my experience, I never did receive the brushes and I opened a dispute with paypal and got my money back.

I was tempted the other day to buy a groupon for a head of highlights at a local salon (as I really would like highlights done and can't afford £40 for them!) but I decided not to in the end. This whole experience really has put me off them, which is a shame.

I've only ever booked haircuts, colours and beauty treatments, never had problems so far apart from it can be very hard getting through on the phone after some of these deals where they sell over 1000 deals. I could not get through to a new salon in Birmingham to book my appointment so I emailed and booked via emails with the owner - ended up with his top colourist and a senior haircut manager so looking forward to that.
Friends have had a mixed time with Groupon one did not have a good time recently horse riding experience.

  • Thanks for the Paypal tip! I've opened a paypal dispute with groupon now, as they stopped replying to my emails.

I signed up for the gym passes to go swimming (which was promised in the deal) and when I rang fitness first they said the passes werent valid for swimming. Groupon offered me 'groupon credit' whatever that is, but said I wanted my money back and they stopped replying to my emails.

I feel very bad as I got a friend to buy them with me so we could swim together, but she used a credit card. Can I do anything about her?
