long shot i know but has anyone got the number for the delievery guys in sheffield! getting worried now as its always here by 12 at latest! just want to check they have got it.
1. Practice putting your forceful (but not aggressive) voice on.
2. Cross fingers and toes.
3. Ring customer services with the following story:
"Hi, my delivery is due today but it is later than usual. Please can you give me the number of the courier as I am concerned they cannot find our house as our house number is not obvious".
Its a long shot as I'm not sure if they will tell you, but I suspect there may be more than one courier delivering to Sheffield - there are more than one delivering to Nottingham.
Telling the above story (or a similar version of it) with an increasing level of panic in my voice was the way I got the number. I may have cut them short a couple of times as well. Also, when the courier finally does turn up then get the number off the side of the van or off the man!! Then you'll have it for next time.0 -
I can't afford the childcare and will still have to pay friends a lot less, but they still need money to look after him between the nursery and preschool.
It is just ridiculous! Everything is pushing mums back to work, with affordable childcare, but how is it affordable when you are paying someone £40 a day to look after your son, and on top of that, paying the pre school?
I know he will be free from jan, but that is only a few hours and then free from next sep, but that is a long way away!
I will try and do mystery shops and surveys and stuff too, to make my money up as I need to keep paying the bills, etc. but it will be easier to take in my own deliveries!
My poor friend has had her second child, thought childminder would take 2nd one, and she said no, you better find a preschool or nursery for your first son, and someone to look after second son. She is now trying to find a nanny/au pair!
Lucyclare is right, avon is one of the few most flexible jobs around! Wish the money was better.
Still thinking about SL. Might have to see how I go first with making money to survive, then if it is ok, reapply.0 -
oh and problem is territory I have.... so many houses don't want a book!0

What frustrates me more is that she lives just across the road from me and i can see her house from my upstairs window. funny how when i was knocking on the door the living room light was on and blinds open yet by the time i got across the road and went upstairs they had been shut! grrrrr. so i put a note through the door saying very politely, i have tried to deliver several times 'but seem to be missing you' so please could you give me a call to let me know when is convenient or pop across the road.... still waiting... the worst thing is she was great on the first order and she has spent like £30 each time on anew products so i really dont want to let go of her that easy. hmmm.
Following my problem customer, she phoned me yesterday while i was at work and left a message saying she never goes out so she was definately there when i 'supposedly' called around (erm, theres no supposedly about it!), and she is in all the time so to pop over whenever. Then she called again about 6pm and as i didnt finish work until 9pm last night my OH got the brunt of her saying 'i waited in all day sunday for her but she never came, when is my order going to come?!', which of course was a contradiction to her first message.
well by the time i got home last night i didnt really think it was a sociable time to knock on her door so i specifically went into work late this morning so that i could deliver to her. She finally answered the door and explained that she cant hear the front door being knocked and that you have to knock the side door (well how was i supposed to know that?!). she apologised for being snappy but apparently she ordered from the rep before me and then never actually saw the delivery and so she thought i was doing the same thing (well clearly not if i left a note through her door saying i had been trying to deliver)..... strange. i think some of our customers (after aureol's odd customer denying placing an order) have split personality disorder.
However, she was very pleased with the products (she spends quite a lot on anew stuff) and now i know to knock on the side door our relationship should be fine.DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

I have 4 new roads to cover this campaign and i have put a leaflet in with the bks, free gift for all orders over £20. i am hoping that this will encourage some new custom in time to sell them all our xmas stuff.
Quick hint - might be obvious to some but wasn't to me.:o
When i am covering new territory, i put a postcard size leaflet in the front of the bag introducing myself and tick boxes asking if they do/dont want to recieve bks in future, etc.
When i put my first set of bks out i was armed with:
- my calling book - to note orders/if bk was out or not/if they didnt want bk again,
- leaflets that said thank you for your order for £x it will be delivered on xdate am/pm,
- leaflets that said i came to collect your book today if you would like more time please contact me otherwise please leave out for collection tomorrow,
- my bag to carry the collected books in...
as you can imagine this was a bit of a juggling act (even with my stepson collecting the bks for me and checking if there were orders then shouting at the top of his voice "they havent even ordered anything" <insert embarassed smiley>....
SO, what i now do, is i write the house number and first line of the address at the top of the introduction leaflet, and then all i need to do when collecting is check if there is an order so that i can leave them a slip, and if there is no book leave the other slip. THEN when i get home i can go through all the bags and note in calling bk which ones werent left out that i need to go back to, who has ordered and who doesnt want a book ever again!! Much easier. :T
Hope this helps someone else!DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

Yes, there are many girls at work at the moment who have had a baby in the last year or so, and they are all having to come back to work after maternity as they can't afford not to. But they are finding that they are having to work to pay for childcare! It doesn't make any sense. Guess this is not one of the governments highest priorities at the moment though, eh? !!
Hope you can get some better territory. I still think it is a numbers game - get as much as you can and canvas like mad.
Not sure what it is like near by you but look out for brand new housing estates on brand new roads. I totted up last night, and I've got 10 customers on our estate out of about 30 houses - not bad at all. The roads are slow to go onto Avon's mapping system, so they are effectively up for grabs. We have been on our road for just over a year and its still not on the mapping system.
If you do find one which is free though, keep getting your upline to check if its on the mapping system though - last thing you want is to get loads of new customers and then for the road to be allocated to someone else when it does go onto the mapping system!!0 -
Had a thought this morning when I read lucyclare's post about there being a new thread.
Dear MSE
When we get to Avon Hints & Tips (Part 10), do we get a 10th birthday present for all our hard work in promoting your site?
Thank you

Has anyone else received the Skin So Soft Luminous Pearls Gift Set?
Mine came today but was in a black bag and not the pretty white one with the pearl zipper as shown in the booklet.
Pretty disapointed and not sure that my neighbour will like the look of it - don't think it goes with the items at all.
Of course I shall tell her she can return it, but shame Avon didn't let me know there might be a change.
Oh well .....0
