Yeah, they just judge it from the number of customers that you enter, and work it out from that and your order total - I got sent more than enough for the scheme they ran last year, even though only one of my customers actually qualified lol.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Yay, took a load of expired brochures to part of OH territory yesterday with the leaflet attached that I posted a few pages ago, and someone has text wanting a current book dropping in
easy recanvassing!

Happy enough with one, its territory we recanvassed "properly" a while ago so any extra customers are a pleasant surprise. I figure at least this way people know there is a rep covering their street, so if they decide to join themselves they won't decide to canvass their road thinking its vacant.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Hi
Sorry, i know this has been asked millions of times, would someone be kind enough to send me the spreadsheet they use to keep track of expenses etc for tax. Thank you0 -
Thanks Chesley - must have given me some luck as another person has just rung asking for a brochure! Shes disabled and says she loves avon stuff especially as its easier than going the shops and was asking if the xmas gifts were in - so could be a big spender with any luckAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

I was speaking to a self-employed carpenter a few weeks ago and he said he was advised by his accountant to go and buy some new tools and anything else he "needed" (may not have been anything that wrong with his current tools) to reduce his taxable income. He said he had a friend who went and bought a new vehicle - again to reduce the bill.
Yes thats right. It's classed as business expenditure and how some offset their tax liabilities.
Disclaimer!: Just passing on one person's story - of course we all need to get things checked by speaking to someone at HMRC or an accountant first.
EDIT: Just thought of something else that I'm not going to put on Connects because ASM might read it and I don't want to get her into trouble. Basically, when I signed up I asked what the situation was with tax and whether this was classed as self-employment (this was my first meeting with the ASM and I hadn't read any of the literature before this). She shrugged and said it was my money to do with as I wished. I was already registered self-employed anyway so once I knew it was self-employment I was happy to tell HMRC and put it on my next return, but the ASM acted as if this wasn't a big deal. She said they didn't pass on details of Reps to the taxman. It was strongly implied that there was no need for me to tell anyone even though I'd asked a direct question about it.
yes I'm self employed and my ASM was the same with me. I think the misinformed on Connect are adding to the confusion. I really thought that there was a special rule for AVON reps by the way the thread was going.
Yet another thing putting me off SL is the whole tax thing. It's going to be very off-putting to some people, but I don't want to not mention it at all because I think reps have a right to be informed from the start. I know it's in the small print and the term "self-employed" and "independent" is used a lot, but these words don't mean the same things to everyone - as you can see from that thread on Connects.
Oh I agree re the SL thing. I'm not going to bother. I think it needs to be mentioned to new reps but not so as it scares the pants off them. Many new reps have never worked for themselves and being self employed can be a minefield - as clearly illustrated on Connects
Sadly, I'm going to have to pack in after C1 anyway. As much as I enjoy AVON - it's taking way too much time building up a territory in between the other reps in the area. I have to prioritise and my business must come first. I've garnered some good customers - one lady spent £112 with me this campaign - any suggestions what to do with them? There is another rep in the area who I believe is struggling badly, should I pass them to her? I'm reluctant to give them to my ASM as although she is nice, she has been about as much use as a chocolate teapot.0 -
Kittenclaws - Pass your customers this way!!!
Seriously I'd probably pass them onto the other rep in your area, if you believe she would serve them well. It's a shame you're giving it up but I think Avon lose a lot of good reps because of territory issues, it seems sometimes as though it's more important to sign up lots of reps than sign up a few good ones and I think that's why there are so many issues over territory, I was only given around 60 houses when I signed up and despite the fact I've lived here 5 years and have never once had a book put through my door I've been told there is no more territory and I have to go and find it myself.0 -
well my christmas fayre was a flop whoever arranged it did no advertising!!! Did manage to get someone wanting to sign up though, off to do that later.
Also having issues with my terrioty as the same person keeps doing one of my roads! Then when i phone my asm she didnt believe me.
