Hello all!
For those of you looking for cheap ferries, I have a suggestion for you. You may have seen "Take 5 for 5" vouchers on Ebay, selling for about £10 a go. These allow 5 foot passengers to travel to France for 5 days for free. For those of you (like myself) who want to take a car, you get a greatly reduced rate.
Now, there is a way to get this voucher without spending a penny, by registering on https://www.ipoints.com. It is horribly lengthy and tedious, but, if you answer all of the questions, you notch up 40 points. And you can redeem those 40 points against the voucher mentioned above.
Its valid for travel until 31st December 2004, and, to give you an idea of what you can save, the ferry I booked to go from Portsmouth to Cherbourg in early October with 5 people, cost me £75 instead of £200 ;D
Once you redeem the voucher, it takes about a week - 10 days to come, so be patient, but it's worth it...
Enjoy!

we have a caravan over there and have found that red funnel is cheaper .both do "discount" after 6.30 for wightlink and i think its 5 for red funnel where its about 50 pounds or so . Beware if you are going cowes week as the ferry get really busy early . also i am sure wightlink are now in the tesco reward thing so that makes it cheaper .. hope this helps0

My wife,2 kids, and I fancy travelling to Brittany in August, but to save a long drive through France via Calais, fancy going from either Portsmouth or Plymouth. This is non-negotiable due to me being an HGV driver,so I want to travel as short a distance as possible, and not have a busmans holiday.
We have picked a camp site, and through them,a return ferry was £320.We have looked at pricing a ferry crossing independently, but can't get a price anywhere near the one off the camp site booking. The ferry companies were SeaFrance and Brittany ferries.
So my question to you all is:
Is there another way to hammer the prices down via these 2 ports,in the form,of say, discount vouchers or last minute booking,or should I accept the camp site company price? That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
not got an answer but just to point out you could try ferries from Poole to which is between PLymouth/Portsmouth, may be some different offers there0
