Hi All, Planning on doing a booze cruise to calais in customary white transit van for some family parties. Can someone please suggest best deals for ferries /eurotunnel.
Thanks0 -
Doubt wether you'll get any "cheap" deals taking a van over - particulary this time of year. Probably better off taking a couple of cars?0

Hello all!
A suggestion for those looking for cheaper ferry crossings... if you register with Ipoints, and fill in their information questionnaire, you clock up 40 points... which is enough to get you a voucher for free travel for 5 foot passengers on a P&O crossing from Dover - Calais, Portsmouth - Le Havre & Portsmouth to Cherbourg.
However, it is also possible to use it for travel with a car, and it seems to offer substantial discounts - I have just booked for a long weekend in October, four people and a car to Cherbourg, for £75. ;D
There are people offering these vouchers on Ebay and they are going for about a tenner, so this is the free way to get them!
One thing - once you have claimed your voucher, it will take about a week to get to you...
Enjoy!

It's the white vans that tend to get stopped by Customs. Quite difficult to prove that your white van full of booze is for "personal use" (even if it is). However, a car weighed down is less likely to get stopped. If you have a legitimate reason, then it's no problems. You also have to pay more for a tall van on the ferry, or if not you get shoved in with all the lorries as my parents found out in their Discovery (that was full of booze)!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

Have you consider Belgium? I know tobacco is cheaper there and its only 50 miles from Calais. I would agree with the other posts and dont go in any kind of van.
Travelled back from Calais yesterday and they were stopping all Vans. Cheapest price I've got a ferry crossing was for £30 but I doubt you will get that kind of price in high season. September is usually cheaper (after the holiday season and before the Crimbo rush)0 -
Anybody know how much cigs cost in France/Belguim, and where to go?
Looking to save a small fortune0 -
Cigarettes cost around 5 euro in France per packet, 3.85 in Belgium per packet.
