Not needed the heating on this evening.
I've set the thermostat to click in at 17.5 which is what I woke to this morning. Once it's higher than that the heating will click off and that will be us for the day. I have washing on the rads and on airer in front of a rad so hoping to capture some the the 'chill off' heat with some drying.
It ain't 'alf a game this isn't it!?0 -
Ta for all your suggestions in answer to my clothes drying conundrum, unfortunately I am not sure any of them work for our situation - no curtain rails, doors too thin for over door hangers (the ones I have tried have chipped paint from the frame) and no additional funds for a dehumidifier right now.
I shall stick to just heating the big radiators with bedding on them and leaving the clothes under the open skylight, as that has kept the damp cold smell (fuddle - totally get what you mean!) at bay. We move soon, so hopefully will have some different options to trial in the house!

Heating not on yet, I have tested it though on a day when I had visitors coming:) and thankfully its working OK, and I will probably be putting it on for an hour tomorrow as I have a load of washing done and its too wet here to dry outside and hung over radiators

A 'game' is exactly how I see it sometimes, kind of a challenge to see how far we can go without putting it on!
Came into the living room tonight to find OH put the little electric fire on - I quickly ran in shouting 'Nooo!' - and sent him upstairs to get a thicker jumper and im sat with fingerless gloves on! (hands are always freezing when im typing!) That and a cup of tea has sorted us out no problem.
I also just put the thin fleece blankets we have ontop of the bottom bed sheet so its not so  when we get in later!
