I have turned it on :D

It is 16.5 in here  if it was just me I might not have bothered (wearing bodywarmer and dressing grown) but 6 year old will be up soon and as much as people say kids are going soft, he does feel the cold so why make him suffer, its not fair on him bet all his school friends are allowed heat!

It will be going off again when thermometer reads 17.5 -18 or when I leave for the school run (whichever is sooner)

EDIT: now back off again thermostat got up to 18. should be ok for the rest of the day, i think morning are the worst when you feel the cold more.

I'm terrible for that, last year I had to dry loads on the oil radiator (used that as it heated up quicker/get hotter). In my defense I don't use a tumble drier and it is very difficult to get clothes dry in winter :(

I turned mine at 17 instead of 20, came in from night shift and it doesn't feel very warm. I will see how it goes though as the mornings definitely are the colder part of the day so far. It may go up again soon though.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

The house is at 17 at the moment without heating and is more than comfortable for s, but we are all able to remain active/add extra layers so it won't be the same for everyone, and I'm trying to re-acclimatise my body to colder temps after the summer.

I tend to put it on when it gets colder primarily in the mornings rather than evenings, otherwise we'd not get out of bed! Obviously if someone is ill it goes on, and when my parents visit. They feel the cold alot and have various conditions that seize up if the temp is too low - I have to say though I find going to their houses to be uncomfortably warm, stuffy and sleep inducing, so I don't warm the house up to 21, I find over 20 very uncomfortable.

but it's not a competition! warmth is a necessity of life.

I feel the same when I visit my parents, I always leave very flushed and with a headache. Anything over 19 degrees is too much for me as you soon get used to a lower temperature.

Must say though I am freezing today, I work from home and the thermostat says 15 degrees although I think the back of the house where I am will be maybe 1 degree warmer. I have a long sleeved top on, cardigan and a gilet over the top.

The kids put vests on of their own accord this morning and complained bitterly about not being driven to school even though we always walk so they must be feeling it too.

I woke up to 17.5 temps. Yes you could feel the nip but no one complained so it stayed off. The sun is out and now up to 18.5 so it won't be on at all today.

I have set the therm to click on if it reaches 16 degrees. 17.5 is comfortable with socks and gubbings. I think below 16 then it will cause trembly bodies and uncomfy bath times.

    See how we get on.
  • There's a constant war in our house regarding the thermostat. It's never been above 16°C and is currently set at 14°C. I think that's too low to make much difference, so I've turned the heating off at the boiler.

A relative was once heard to complain "ooh, you can feel the heat coming off these radiators". Yeah, that's kind of the point of them...

My eldest daughter (age 7) always feels the cold first thing in the morning, I put my kids uniform on the radiator in living room to warm when it is cold, autumn deffo on it's way my house was 19.5 degrees this morning so no heating needed just yet but it was freezing at school this morning.
