I am hoping to make my own draught excluders using an old pillow case as the cover, but not sure what to use to fill them with- any suggestions?

You could fill them with all the spare £ notes that you're saving on the gas bill.

Now look here gettingready, I might be a devoted and batty cat-slave but I am not mentally deficient. Well, not yet. The hot-water bottle is in his bed, not mine. He's never slept on mine alas, not even when I'm not in it. His bed is in his most favourite kipping-spot on top of the wardrobe in the spare bedroom. If he shoots out of there like a bat out of hell with his backside on fire, I'll know he's punctured it while doing his knitting

    I've been Money Tipped!
Bitter and twisted....i think you should have a word with stanley cat about his job..mine know their job is to keep me warm and cuddled in the night. Dog dog also likes that job.

The only thing with my cats in bed is they get annoyed if its a tossing and turning night, and have been known to dig their claws in to keep me still.
  • I've had a word with Stanley a number of times but being a cat he's got his own ideas. This boy doesn't kip on the bed and he's never sat on my lap either. Won't even sit on the couch next to me. He does walk up and down on the back of it shouting at me for a fuss, though. He's so un-cat-like I can't remember offhand why I keep him.

I think I need a bony, but cuddly bag-of-chisels like DogDog

My lot know what I feed them for - come bed time they all follow me to my bed and stay put with me. That is non negotiable. 21.1 kg of cats and 40kg of a dog. In my room - cats on the bed, dog on the floor by the bed. She does not like the bed, too warm for her. But she breaths (and farts) and that helps to keep the air warm ;)
  • Minus one here at the moment. We have one small radiator on in the living room and the one in the bathroom which is always on even when the heating is off  Wanted to put another on yesterday as it was soooo cold but it wouldn't work! Now wrapped up in layers of clothes and a blanket, with the cut snuggled beside me.

Upstairs is pretty cold, but we do warm up a bit once in bed. Sadly daughters window won't shut so she is shivering a little more.

Hopefully this weather will soon pass and we can throw the doors open once again.

    He's so un-cat-like I can't remember offhand why I keep him.

Because he's wormed his way into your heart and you'd be devastated if anything happened to him - they have a bad habit of doing that :D Our cat can sleep anywhere he likes, but he always chooses DD2's bed. He likes to wake us up at stupid o'clock in the middle of the night for feeding and/or letting out. I skip the feeding bit and just open the door and put a foot behind him :rotfl:
